"My photography quality increased immediately" - by Malayalee_Techie
It seems my photography quality increased immediately. Even junk photos started to look awesome. If you only have a kit lens, I suggest you buy this. You won't regret it.

PS: This is 50mm prime lens, If you want to take large group photos indoor (where there's no much space) go for 35mm version.

"Eying your first zoom lens? You bet!!" - by Vikram
Most of the folks looking at this review will be either those who graduated from a bridge camera to a DSLR recently or just took the plunge and bought a DSLR (yes with all capitals!) few days/ weeks/months ago. It is even likely you own a Nikon D5x00 or D3x00. (Experts and professionals would not be reading this. Heck, they shouldn't even be on this page!) So while we are all in a good company, let's talk about the lens itself.

Now want those with quintessential starter DSLR with 18-55mm glass piece, want next? Of course, more zoom! Unless you are in a 1.8G Prime vs. 300mm Zoom mode. Frankly, 55mm does not simply cut it, and I am putting it mildly. It's like 3x Zoom on digital cameras (I know it is bit misleading but that's what it is). We all grew up comparing cameras on shopping sites and once ... full review

"Great lens and must have" - by dinesh kanna
I have been using 18-55mm kit lens and 70-300mm for Tele. I bought this lens recently and this is the only lens I carry for taking portrait photos and also am in great love with it.
For basic model camera(d3xxx, d5xxx series ) users I suggest 1.8mm G lens, since D lens model will not support auto focus as the camera body does not come with one too

"Amazing prime lens." - by tURTLE (hyderabad)
Great prime lens. This is best second lense for new DSLR purchasers and for beginners.
Note that this cannot be used as wide angle lens, as it has only 44 degrees coverage. It cannot mimic human eyes. But far better than kit lense. 1.8 f gives amazing shots even in dark situations. If you are bokeh lover then it is perfect purchase.Manual override autofocus one more likable point. Captures amazing details.I definitely recommend this. Can be used on any DX Nikon camera.Only downside is its made in china.I found focus ring cheap.

"Super sharp images" - by gambo (Kolkata, India)
I had considered both the Sigma 150-600 and the Tamron 150-600 but, finally, settled for this lens. I am glad that I did. The images are sharp even at the widest aperture f/5.6. In good light if the the aperture is stopped to f/11 or something the images become even better. I am including an example taken at 500mm, f/11, 1/800 s and ISO 800.

"Good improvement over AF-S" - by Q-Eye
I received this as default lens that is given with the camera. Following are the merits/ demerits identified so far (and counting) -

Merits -
1. No Auto-Manual focus mode change option available. So risk of damage to lens of manual focusing while in auto mode has been mitigated now.
2. Vibration reduction (VR) is in-built. Also generally it is advisable to use VR mode "ON" in earlier models as it stabilizes image. So this now reduces the effort to turn it ON/ OFF every time.
3. Minimum aperture size enhanced from 36 (AF-S counterpart) to 38 (also as per [...]).

Demerit -
1. Filter Thread raised from 52mm to 55mm. This is not a demerit as such, but generally filters available in market are of 52mm size. May be in future Nikon might start selling filters of 55mm size.

I feel this is really an enhancement over its counterpart (AF-S), although AF-S is also a good ... full review
