I was amazed at the sound quality...I was almost certain to buy Bose soundlink but on certain persuasions I opted for JBL and indeed It does more than decent job in living rooms, although it’s bit moderate in large halls
Overall, considering the size, the audio is truly impressive and decent stereo effect is apparent without effort at a distance of 6 feet. This would be great for a private listening space I.E. on a desk, lounging in my recliner with the unit on my stomach. Unlike other speakers with foolishly boosted bass there is fortunately minimal vibration in the speaker body. I use the speaker on the side and while in my clawfoot tub with the model of the Titanic and my rubber duck, I got truly amazing audio with respectable true bass considering the size of the unit. The speaker rests nicely on a rack which I have placed across my tub; the soap/soap tray is about 3 inches from the top which enhances the bass from the passive radiators at either end due to reflections off the tub sides from the passive radiators, plus the actual acoustics of the room. Dark side of the moon really kicks but!
I have some issues, latency of the Bluetooth so that for example, when I choose to activate Siri the whole process is on the verge of being unacceptably sluggish but the audio is why I will keep the unit. The design allows for some rolling when laid longitudinally; if the ends were say, eight-sided or even six-sided there would be more stability. All buttons require considerable pressure to engage, especially the power and Siri buttons so folks with weaker grips may be challenged. The power up and power down sounds are annoying and just damn stupid! And, like so many morally irrisponsible manufacturers, the speaker appears to be a sealed unit so that, even were one capable, a new unit would be required when the battery dies; talk about corporate irrisponsibility!
BTW, there will be no photos of my bathtub activities, so sorry! However, if one enters JBL flip 4 in the Utube search, The videos will make up for my lack of same, check it out.
Very happy to have purchased this !!! ***TIP FOR ANY POTENTIAL BUYER OR CURRENT OWNER!*** The battery on the Flip 4 is UNREAL. I repeat UNREAL. I noticed that it will flash red (indicating it needs to be charged) but continue to work for 6-8 hours... while flashing red!! Thats incredible, so my tip is to NOT plug it in when it starts flashing!! Play the heck out of it until the speaker dies THEN charge it. That'll help that amazing battery last even longer over time cause it won't cause more charge cycles than necessary.
