A Lovely Diary
on 19 April 2018
I have read two of previous works of the author but they didnt impress me in any way. With the blurb I decided to give a try. And this is an emotional heart whelming novel. When a novel could be written with pure memories from a diary then this book gets a special place in that.Such a lovely narration by the author.
I didn’t expect the novel to be so emotional and convincing. It was different in many aspects. Every character was knitted according to the real world people. I could relate Velu character very much to the people in my native place. They will help their people whatever their situation they are in.
The strong and the main character is grandfather Gopal. He is not stubborn but still a rigid man. He is happy and content but still his memories haunts him. He is definetly a man of word, you will know what I mean when you read the end part of the book . The best portion in the novel is the dairy pages. Author didn’t play the part as a flashback scenes. I felt it as if I am reading a person’s diary. It was perfectly said through the words of Gopal and not with the Ayan words.
This book helps us to get to know the old age people mind and thoughts. It’s not the love and caring they want but sometimes we have to leave them with want they want. Gopal is of that sort. Ayan father was a typical day to day life father. Author took a controversial theme but gave a justice to that. Friendship exist forever in a relationship. The length of the book was really long. Could have reduced little short.
Overall “A Hundred Little Flames” will leave you with heavy heart and encourages you to have a long chat with your grandparents and understand them in a better way.
