Reasonably good watch
18 November 2018
This is definitely not the best watch in the market. Yet all things considered it stands out as one of the most VFM offerings. I own a Large Spark 3 (Running+GPS and no music watch). Given that there were a lot of concerns on the battery, I decided to drop the idea of getting music on the watch (more drain).
Large Display for easy readability. I travel a lot and tracking everything in minutes is of importance. Outside running, this is one good feature that assists me in keeping track of time.
Multiple working out modes & activity modes
Good features - Fitness age, Tomtom App analysis is really good, Cycling, Treadmill, Running, Workouts (Gym)
Training modes - are average, nothing that excites you as much as the Nike Training Club/ Running club
Fair battery - good enough for a week's worth - with 3-4 days of running and 1-2 hrs of gymming on top (With Heart rate mode off at other times)
Horrible strap quality - broke in under an year. Costly replacement
Battery could have been better for the features it has (2 weeks with no HRM and 1 week with HRM on)
During swimming and after, the display got unstable with flickering for a day before becoming normal again. Didn't try in swimming pools again
Dedicated Charging Cable - Hard to carry one more charging cable.
Notifications on Phone are very average at best, readability suffers due to the font size with respect to the display size
Given the price point, there aren't many better watches that give you all features in one product. Most Wear OS watches are battery guzzlers. Fossil watches are mainly smart watches for the casual users. Iron Man watch doesnt have an HRM (Timex). Other watches are in the range of 15k+. Fitbit Verse etc etc. Therefore, until a better value for money proposition (or the polar watch or the Garmin comes under 20k) this watch seemed to be good enough for new bie runs. Marathon runners can definitely go for Garmin due to better analysis, views and longer battery life. This probably would require two times the charge who run about 30k a week and regular marathoners.
