"Being Reshma", is a compelling read for more than one reasons, it's story, the recency of the happening hence its relatability and above all leaving the reader with a positivity that though there are people with beastly minds there are others who are ready to put in their might behind the lacerated souls trying to make a life out of tatters created by others.
It's an extraordinary tale of a 17 year old Reshma, an acid attack survivor. The book takes you from the nadir of human spirit in making a living corpse out of a bubbly young life to the zenith of a family's love and support in spite of itself living in mortal hell. It manages to expose not just Reshma's festering wounds but also the society and system we are part of.
This book leaves also leaves one awestruck at the passion and enthusiasm of the two young girls -,Ria Sharma and Tania Singh ( the author), barely much older than Resham herself, leaving their protected, sheltered lives to support all the Reshma's they can through their NGO Make Love Not Scars.
Truly a must read inspirational tale by a first time author.
