If building wonderful user experiences is your passion, this book has lot of interesting concepts that will help. I enjoyed reading it. Ideas like designing with data, keeping states in mind, focus on simplicity make so much sense. They are explained well using good examples and illustrations.
It is a beautiful, lucid and a concise book. I know how difficult it is to be so. I have my daily struggles in penning concise emails. Having said that, I would have liked more granularity on the following two topics: 1. Designing for States 2. Designing for performance
Maybe Tarun could pen a follow-on book since I tend to struggle with these.
A powerful yet simple bible of design essentials for anyone in the digital world! Design handbooks are found everywhere these days but "7 UX Design principles" stands out as it not only prescribes what must be followed but at the same time highlights key design contradictions faced by designers, clients, product leaders and engineers alike. The eternal trade-off between "Empathy/Intution driven design Vs Data driven design", Standardization Vs Differentiation", "Simplicity Vs More features" e.t.c has been deftly handled by the author where a win-win is emphasized beyond an easy everyday optimization. The Indian tech ecosystem with all its successes needs a lot to learn from this book and it's author when it comes to developing a unique design vocabulary for it's brands.
Completely agree with each of the seven principles so nicely explained with cool graphics in the book. I think every designer might have heard of all the principles i.e. Empathy, Design with Data, Default to Simplicity, Be Consistent, Keep States in Mind, Performance Matters and Seek Critique, but these concepts are explained so nicely in a logical way makes it interesting to read and it is definitely a game changer.
In addition to the beautiful doodles, the book has a lot of examples to clearly explain the principles. I would say even if you're not a UI/UX designer, this book has a lot of insights which would help any professional.
