A fast paced thriller set in Kashmir
15 January 2019
I had read The Bodyguard by Ruchi Singh, her first book in the Undercover Series, and loved it. Obviously then I was excited at the idea of the Book 2.
Nikhil, one of the characters, in book 1 takes centre stage here. If you’re a succour for romance you’ll fall in love with this endearing man, his courage and his humour. Then there’s Ayesha, who like most other Ruchi Singh’s heroines is my favourite kind of female protagonist - strong and brave yet gentle and sweet.
The story begins with Nikhil's abduction. He is brought to the valley under a mistaken identity with no hope of escape until Ayesha comes to his rescue. What follows is an adventure-packed tale that winds its way through the terror ravaged Kashmir Valley, to the power centres in Delhi.
I enjoyed the pace of the book as also the very real descriptions of Kashmir. If I was looking for a complaint, it would be that the high-point of the book came much before it ended and the romance towards the end seemed like an epilogue.
That said, it still makes for a great read. Also, though, technically this one is a sequel, both books can be read as stand alones.
I received an advance copy of the book from the author for review.
