Worth a buy
1 November 2018
I was skeptical to buy a honeywell air purifier and more inclined towards buying a Philips, but eventually ended up buying a Honeywell and have no regrets so far. The build quality is good with a simple design. The front cover has a magnet arrangement, hence opening and closing of the front cover is a breeze.
Initially when the filter is new, there will be some smell as the purifier works but slowly the smell will diminish.
To confirm if the auto mode actually works, I found that the fan speed increased automatically and the colour changed to yellow when the room was being dusted. After sometime the colour changed to blue when the dust concentration reduced.
Although I wouldnt depend on the colour indicator to assess the air quality, there is a difference in the room air quality say after an hour or so.
Once you enter the room in which the purifier is working, there is notable difference in air quality which could be used as a basis to conclude that the purifier does its job, especially for those areas where the pollution levels are comparitively lower.
Since there are plenty options among air purifiers, some factors which are to be considered before buying are - ready availability of replacement filter, affordability and after sales service.
Very important to keep in mind - This air purifer or any air purifier for that matter will work effectively only if the room is sealed and there is no ingress of air from outside or from other rooms. So the doors and windows need to be kept closed for the air purifier to work effectively. I did experiment with it and the air purifier was very effective in eliminating perfume smell from the room in very little time.
Also, I disagree with the statement that ' An air purifier will only work in an air conditioned environment '.
So go ahead and buy this one if you are looking for an affordable air purifier.
