The video clears and opens to a well-lit and spacious room. Two beds are pushed up against opposite walls and numerous bookshelves all brimming with books take up the corners. A girl runs in with a small, brown, rectangular package held in her hands and plops down on the nearest bed. She carefully opens the packaging and reverently pulls out a book. It has a beautiful cover done in black and gold, with the name “Obsidio” printed in a large, black font.
She immediately squeals loudly, though there’s no chance she didn’t already know what was in the package. She flips through the book and inhales the scent while smiling like this was the happiest moment of her life. It seems intrusive to be watching this chum, as this feels like a personal moment. God knows how getting a new book is personal though. I can barely here as she whispers “I’ve waited so long to be able to read this” and hugs it close.
She makes a fort out of the pillows on her bed and crawls in, pulling the blanket over herself, like a cacoon. Prepare yourselves now chums, for this fem will be sitting here until she finishes the last freaking page of this novel. And what an emotional rollercoaster she goes through while reading it. It’s interesting to watch, as you can see the whole story playing out on her face.
The girl starts out, intent on her book, not looking up once. You can see her smiles as she greets old, favourite characters and her concentration as she is slowly introduced to new ones. The laughs when she reads tiny, hilarious snippets tucked between those heartwrenching pages that make her face fall. She is oblivious to everything around her. It seems as though the book is the only thing in her world, or she’s in it’s world. The story conjuring up images like a holographic display or a virtual reality headset in her mind. Coming to think of it, I need one of those.
You can see her tension building as the story draws nearer and nearer to its close. This fem is ripping through the book like it holds all the answers to life. There are only a couple of pages more when slowly her lip starts to tremble and her eyes well up. She clutches the book with a tight grip The pain she is going through is written all over her face and chum, it’s painful to watch. It looks like her heart is being torn out. When the book tilts forward a bit, I catch a glimpse of a page. A single name. AIDAN. And I’m surprised. A name is making a girl cry? Must be heavy stuff, chum.
She races through to the finish and then sits back as if suffering from a concussion, with a bewildered and lost expression on her face. As if she doesn’t know how she ended up where she was. A couple of minutes go by before she looks at the book again and starts sobbing and laughing and going hysterical. I don’t know what to make of it. She scares me. The book scares me. I’m glad I’m just transcribing what I see.
I can’t make out whether this emotional distress has made her love or hate the book. My confusion is put to rest soon enough as she kisses the cover and gently puts it with its companions on the shelf before screaming, “OBSIDIO YOU BRILLIANT WRETCHED THING OMG I LOVE THE ILLUMINAE FILES FOREVER AKDJIOSJFODNDOFNO”, then calmly walking out of the room.
See chum? This fem is crazy.
And one thing I learned from watching this event unfold. Take heed, if you ever want to be a novelist. This, chum, is how you write an electrifying finale to a fantastic series.
Obsidio picks up immediately after Gemina. No time skips, ain't no one got time for that. We have two new characters in this: Asha and Rhys, along with our usual cast. Everyone else is also prominent in this book. Our beloved psycho AI also comes early in this book. Everyone is trying to stay alive (again) and fight back against BiTech (again). Hardcover is again very pretty but color scheme has changed to greyish. Atlantic delivered in pristine condition.
This is the third book in the series and it ties the first and the second book's story perfectly bringing it to a great ending. I ordered a hardcover and the book is beautiful. Delivery was on time but packaging was not very good.

I didn’t want to start this book – mostly because I wasn’t ready for the trilogy to end – but end it did; and it took away a small piece of my soul with it!
Like the previous books; this final installment also focuses on a new couple – this time estranged high school sweethearts on the opposite sides of the war being faught – Asha Grant; Kady Grant’s cousin, purported to be dead in the initial attack on Kerenza and her ex boyfriend, Rhys Lindstorm, who is now working as a grunt for BeiTech.
Yeah, this is no happy reunion ya’ll!
Now, THIS IS EXACTLY how a trilogy is supposed to end – fast, furious, bloody and gory; not to mention; secrets and betrayals galore that you, as a reader do not know right from wrong and up from down.
Your heart will broke, bruised beyond repair and even with the end, a part of you will never ever be right again, but you will never regret reading this trilogy because you will have found YOUR kind of people; even if one of them is a murderous, awkward and yet hopeful AI with your best interest in his codes!
"I know I love her. < ERROR > I know I miss her. I know very little else. Save Perhaps This: That every story needs its monster and that everybody deserves a second chance. And that I am AIDAN."
OBSIDIO : 5 f◼️ing Stars ✨⭐ Complete trilogy : Again, 5 f◼️ing Stars✨⭐ Chum. <Restart> <error> Year 2017 , Month Jan :wanted to read a sci-fi book. saw Illuminae. The format grabbed my attention. I bought it. Read it. Loved it more than I expected. Ordered the second. Finished it. The end twist was something beyond any expectation. The ending of Gemina still stands out among the three. <error> After 2 years when I picked up obsidio I was sure it won't disappoint me. (That's the reputation of the previous books, Chum)It didn't. The story, the characters, AIDAN, Everything made obsidio 'almost' perfect. It doesn't surpasses the previous books but proudly stands together with them. <Error> The war which changed the lives of everyone caught in between, ends in this one. Lives are sacrificed. Some fall and some stand high. They fight to live , to tell the truth , desperate to pull this off one last time. The die is thrown and everyone is shaking the table to change its course and hoping for a miracle to happen. But miracles are just statistical probabilities, right? But you don't have to worry cause our team (KADY, EZ, HANNA, NIK, ELLA ,ASH, RYHS and AIDAN) does whatever it takes. To make it damn sure that justice is served. And it does. <error> So grab the book. Popcorn . Some tissues. Play some intense climatic music. <error> And read a Book Worth spending Time And money for. <error>
