Thobias has clearly carved out a niche for himself with Corporate Comedy among the numerous debutant writers in our country.
He effortlessly takes us through his journey at a PSU and introduces us to various interesting real life characters. The sense of humour, poetic irony and strength of vocabulary is remarkable! It is an engaging yet easy read which actually deals with certain major aspects like hierarchy, bureaucracy etc.
With relatable characters and comical moments, I totally enjoyed reading Corporate Comedy. The author has a distinctive sense of humour. The choice of words is subtle yet phenomenal. I had a smile on my face at the end of every chapter. Enjoyable read indeed.
The corporate comedy is a fresh take on commonplace events at the workplace that are characterised by their comedic natures and poetic irony. It's an interesting read for anyone. Thobias has done a wonderful job with his debut.
Thobias admits to a 'stirring of the soul', when faced with good prose, as the motive power behind his writing. He has achieved an amazing feat of finding such interesting things while practicing 'lubrication engineering' , in a PSU ! The intensity which comes from personal experience of events&situations is palpable, though the style chosen is one of light-hearted comedy. He is certainly gifted with a unique sense of humour, which combined with a felicitous word-power, makes for an engaging read - more for guys like me who too had their brush with PSU culture of 70s/80s.As can be expected , Bosses of a variety of hues are introduced & dealt with, some times quite sternly. Some of the universal characteristics of public sector like bureaucracy ,hierarchy, fixation with norms rather than results, sycophancy in preference to competence etc gets highlighted. The narrative reverts to his training & initial years, even when describing later years;perhaps the impact of early experiences were, understandably, pronounced on a young mind ? But this also leaves one with a possibility that his soul searching would result in more writings spanning writer's later years ?
'Corporate Comedy' has a pithy sense of humor thru observation of people - Peers,Bosses & Subordinates with a fair share of detailing of their behaviors, reactions to issues / events, general outlook towards life & their idiosyncrasies. The book also brings out Author's keen observation power & his own unique outlook on most of those situations. It is commendable to capture those moments with all its nuances & craft it into a book by presenting fairly serious corporate issues at hand in a lighter vein... Enjoyable read indeed!
Excellent Book. Nostalgic feeling. The hostel days and early days in the corporate ladder experiences strikes a chord of my own experiences. Thourghly enjoyed the tongue in cheek humor. Strongly recommend to read to know how a salesmen journeys across the country
I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Corporate Comedy" with its many comical corporate moments, tough bosses with very relate-able characteristics and beautiful imagery ( The description Bay of Bengal has to be read a couple times at least ). The evolution of the protagonist from a simple village lad to a streetwise corporate climber, able to stand up to his difficult bosses and colleagues will surely resonate with many a reader. The characters of Ashok, Gurucharan and Jagan are especially engaging and humorous"
