A must read for neoliberals in India. We desperately need a new paradigm to reorient our economy towards manufacturing and high technology. We will be unable to do it under the laissez-faire framework currently favored by thought leaders here. We need a good balance between the market economy and State facilitation and support to R & D and technology. Her book goes into the history of high-tech development in the US and shows how State support was crucial for developing advanced technologies. Excellent background on various economic schools. Read it a while ago so do not remember the details especially as my Lenovo laptop swallowed a huge amount of data and notes I had made on her book, but a formative read! Highly recommended.
This is is a sequel to her earlier book entrepreneurial state and it describes what value creation and value extraction is , how they are differently rewarded and why and how that should change. It is a pretty convincing book on value creation vs value extraction in economy. It's a good book and I would recommend it.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a different and a modern view to value in the context of economics. Well written and easy to understand. A good history lesson along the way on how the definition of value was changed to suit politics.
