Our son is Hearing Impaired. Prior to viewing movies on Amazon Prime's Streaming Service our son used to see only the Movies with hardly any knowledge about the dialogues that were going on, with subtitles for the movies he has really started enjoying the movies as well. I appreciate this feature the most.
1.0 out of 5 starsRemote control isn’t working in just 2 months of my purchase
28 September 2018
Just want to keep this feedback simple. The remote control that comes with the bundle has stopped working in just 2 months of my purchase and isn’t functional inspite of changing the batteries. This is pretty frustrating. No idea what to do. Worst, Amazon sells it separately for Rs 1999.
Okay have been using it for 8/9 months now and here goes my review Pros: 1. easy to use 2. you dont need phone to work. all you need in internet
Cons: 1. wont work if there in no internet 2. only 8gb of memory...DEAR AMAZON, you can do better 3. no port for pendrive etc 4. In india, alexa wont work. If its set to other counties, no movies will play. so whats the point of having voice command on the remote?? 5. cant mirror Apple device like iPhone or Mac (a big nooo) common Amazon you can do better.. 6. very very less movies on amazon prime, 1 movie gets added each month. Dear amazon you can do better. we are paying 999 per year for it.
Amazon Fire TV stick is best avoided. Netflix and YouTube are way more convenient where you don't have to depend on a separate remote and one that is so bad that it doesn't even work properly for less than 6 months. Firstly I struggled with the remote not working or working intermittently as just didn't expect that Amazon would have such a HORRIBLE remote. Then after about 20-30 minutes on the phone was informed that the time duration for this faulty remote to be collected and the replacement sent to me would be another 48 hrs!!!!! Guess it was foolish of me to depend on just this 1 device for the room TV as I will be stuck for 4-5 days with no TV!!!!!!
Big, big disappointment by Amazon..... Never expected they would fleece customers with such third rate products.
This review is after more than 2 months of using the firestick. The product is amazing when it comes to its advertised function. This review is about the one thing that is hidden from its promotion: The remote is a crazy battery sucking equipment! The first set of amazon batteries lasted for about a month. When they expired, i replaced them with other brand(panasonic) batteries. They lasted for 3 days. I then got another non-amazon brand. This one lasted 2 days. So you get the idea. I have finally ordered a whole set of amazon batteries for the remote. The first couple of them lasted for exactly 10 days. Now I make it a point to remove the batteries from the remote while firestick isn't being used. It is a headache and is annoying as hell. If i have to change batteries every 10 days then my battery expenses will shoot higher than the firestick cost itself. Not good. Amazon should research on this issue and find a solution for existing users.
The packaging was as expected from an Amazon product! The remote looks build to last. The issue is with the 5505 Error which is a nuisance. I have changed the country settings to match the one on my amazon account but still not able to play any movies. I have given it much time but looks like there is no was to make it work. The sellers mention that calling the Toll free customer care number is helpful but its very lame. If you press any other numerical besides language selection and order status it asks to check the online QandA. Returning the item. Fist amazon product which I am returning as a frustated one.
Changing rating to two stars due to more trouble. Battery remote replaced two sets in two weeks as it is draining very fast Mirroring worked once then it stopped never worked again Many a times the firestick hangs and you have to restart Remote has limited functionality Most of the apps that you ant to use as replacement for dish tv will need to be purchased as a service So you can not completely five yiur Tata sky kind of stuff Good but not great. It doesn't have mobile mirror option like Chromecast does. For most of the things you need subscription. So there is a running cost. Quality wise it is good and easy to setup. I get error that it is not able to connect to server when I try to go to home option
Ok after my review and the rating the team's response was super. They explain me the way to troubleshoot. But unfortunately I am not able to do that, they have provided a no which is not connecting from any network. So not sure about the sound clarity. I am going to change a bit of my review as per my experience
Build quality is great. UX no doubt is good. Has a HD picture. But I am little disappointed with the sound quality.
If you have a TV with 2 HDMI port and sound system and also you have a hd DTH ,then it is not recommended to get fire TV stick because still you will connect 1 extra port which is not possible. If you have 3 HDMI port then this device is a must.
After almost 9 months use I'm writing this review about the Amazon fire tv stick , the stick performed very efficiently during it's initial " New" phase , but slowly it started hanging and needed to be restarted frequently, then after 6 months of use a new problem arised ,which ever battery I used it started leaking in the remote within 20 to 25 days , the entire remote battery compartment gets filled with a transparent liquid . God knows what all will come in the days to come
Got this a day back and absolutely frustrated. After setting up it constantly drops connection to wifi (Hathway router). The device has to be rebooted everytime. This does not happen to other devices connected to same network and Fire Stick it self shows that it is receiving very good signal. Searching online I see this problem is reported by others as well.
Though loved it, still there is scope for improvement. 1. Sometimes face Buffering issue. Directly connected. WiFi router is just 0.5 feet away. Getting speed of 40MBPS on other devices. 2. Most of the channels (Sony, Zee5, Netflix, Humgama etc) are paid one. Amazon movies, shows update frequency is less so will have to wait for weeks for a new movie or show.
Review after one year of Usage 1. The product was replaced once in warranty period while remote was replaced once. There are serious issues with remote. While Duracell lasts for couple of months normal batteries last for couple of weeks only. Even replaced batteries developed same issue with in months. Sometimes homepage takes lots of time to load, and one can see blank page continuously.
The product worked well for the first 6-9months, after which the sound started giving trouble, then the streaming was bad. By the Time it completed a year both the problems were already there and then another 3 months later, it got really bad. We called customer service but again a cold response where in we had to the centre, leave the product there for repair and it may take 4-6working days for the problem to be resolved. Had checked for solutions online but nothing worked. Finally after 1 year and 5 months of use we had to switch to Apple TV.
Recommend spending some extra money on a better product than having to deal with poor quality streaming and sound going off every now & then. The whole point of the remote was lost.
