Mayank has written a very straightforward, no bulls*** book about his experience with running a startup. We hear stories from entrepreneurs which are sugar coated which doesn't really give us the real picture of how running a startup actually feels. By choosing to be open and candid, Mayank has helped me personally to be able to see what goes on behind the scenes. Love the initial part about selecting an idea which doesn't let you go. I feel this was a very critical part which not everyone speaks about. Much recommended.
A mechanical engineer, turned entrepreneur, turned author, Mayank, has done a huge favor to all the startup enthusiast by giving a simple comprehensive guidebook on how to become one. Restart is an honest and personal memoir from a good friend, who has touched upon not only the well known aspects of a start up, like seed funding, MVP, valuation etc but also the personal side like preparing for bootstrapping, finding right co-founders, managing family and relationships. You can really connect with the good, the bad and the ugly that Mayank has gone through when he created and parted from Musicfellas (a site which I really miss). A holistic recollection of what you are in for when you take the plunge.
This book is something special. I got into the startup industry with no knowledge of the way things work, and how to make things work. In Restart, Mayank has shared his commendable journey, and given a clear insight of making a product work, covering various topics that touch almost every element of this new indian work culture. From the product, to the fundings, to the esops - everything is detailed, connectable, and drop down simple to understand. Hope many will read this beautiful journey, and take inspiration. Love the book, and admire the author!
I highly recommend this e-book for any aspiring start-up founders or even those who are at any stage in their journey, especially in India. Well-written, and with just the right amount of detail - it can be read through in a single sitting or can be kept as a ready reference knowledge base. The freebies, especially the financial and marketing planner templates are a nice touch. On the flip side, the content could have been packaged better, rather than plain text. One cannot click on the table of contents and go to a specific section. On the whole, a very useful reading material for start-ups.
Restart is a great effort by the author to help fellow entrepreneurs and start-up enthusiasts understand about the various dynamics of starting a venture. The book is very lucid and one can connect with the anecdotal experiences at a personal level. I believe that the easiest way to learn is from the experiences of other people. And what better way than to learn from the person who has been so successful with his very first venture, Musicfellas.
The multi-dimensional approach of the book ranging from - motivation, finance, bootstrapping, seed funding, team management, to -failures, social pressure, restarting etc., is what makes this book different from all the other books which I have read on this subject.
I highly recommend it to everyone, not just aspiring entrepreneurs, as a source of motivation and learning important life lessons.
This is a fantastic read if you want to know how to build a startup. It shows you the way from the beginning to the end with all the financials you might need to look into for a successful initiative. I loved the way author explains confusing situations in a startup environment by anecdotes and try to find solutions around them. You should have this book in your device all the tims If you are an entrepreneur or if you wish to be one.
The current era of e/m-commerce has brought-in an altogether new set of focus areas for the businesses. The author not just captured them very well but the manner in which it is shared, as he builds his own product from scratch is commendable. The reader is able to relate it to his own business/idea and think how he can go about it. Love it, highly recommended for aspiring entrepreneurs!
A very handy book for budding entrepreneurs. A lot of mistakes can be avoided if you read this book before you start working on your idea. The book not only tells how to the handle the professional challenges but also how to manage things at personal front. Also the writing is very clear and easy to understand, can be finished in few sittings.
Mayank has brought out his startup experience and best learning in the form a story through this book. Explaining with examples and relevant quotes makes it much easier to understand. I strongly recommend this book for every wannabe entrepreneurs. ~ Ranjan, Co-Founder @ Learnyst.com
