50mm is the focal length most used by doyens like Ansel Adams . This lens justifies it's position for being among the sharpest 50mm ever produced. It's sheer poetry to play with this piece of art. Just wished Sigma started developing weather sealing to it's Art armoury.
A beast of a lens. The one lens that will help travel, portraits, landscape. Images are tack sharp and worth every bit the price. Autofocus is fast. The depth of field is pure love to play around with. Not for beginners. Maybe advanced amateurs, serious enthusiasts and professionals.
BOKEH on this thing is just Bang ON!!! Its soo soft and smooth. Gives a very good competition to the high end lenses like the Zeiss Otus. Plus the Otus is completely manual, which gives the Sigma a slight advantage of being auto+manual.
If you want all the clarity in the world, Buy this!!! This thing is so sharp at f/2.8 and f/1.8 that I can't believe. Lens on this thing shines like a Cristal. It is the best 50mm you can get. So better than Canon 50/1.4. I don't even want to use my Canon 50mm f/1.4 after using this. Wow.........
One word, "Best Nifty Fifty", I have ever used. Dreamy Bokeh. May be one of the sharpest 50 mm lens for both crop and full frames bodies. Sharp even wide open, but for even better results, stop down. The one and only problem i felt is the focus inaccuracy which happens few times, which may sometimes can ruin your best shots of the day.
