Predictable Aundhati Roy tirade against India and the Hindus. Is a free Kashmir feasible with Pakistan breathing down its neck. Can Kashmiri's defend themselves with Pakistan next door? Would Roy dare or want to produce a similar book on Baluchistan
The book contains the usual predictable anti-Indian and anti-Hindu bias.
What is more interesting is what the book does not tell. It does not tell about the 400 000 Kashmiri Pandits that were forced to flee after a radical Islamist campaign of killings, and ended up as refugees in their own country. It does not tell about the persecution of Hindus in Kashmir since the times of Sikandar Butshikan in the medieval era, and the temple destructions and other atrocities. And it does not tell about Pakistan's role in creating and sustaining conflicts.
Kashmir was once one the most important centers of Hindu learning. The books by K.S. Lal, Sita Ram Goel and Arun Shourie are recommended on the Islamic invasions of Kashmir and India.
