4.0 out of 5 starsA voyage to the ages of Shiva. Brought magic out of mythology, and it all made sense
27 June 2017
This is the longest book I will ever reading without losing any enthusiasm.
I am actually an atheist now, after spending many years in worshiping God. But Amish felt the other way round, as he finally found his God, Shiva.
I bow low to Amish in respect, for his effort in creating this great book.
Anyone can write a story like 'Everyone has a Story', but not everyone can create larger than life characters like Amish, simultaneously expounding the valour of Indian mythology and how it can help us live a better life !

This is the third book of Shiva Trilogy. Compared to first 2 books, this book is very lengthy. Because of which reader may start losing interest. At one stage reader may started feeling like author has lost the plot and struggling to give a logical conclusion to the story. Or you may feel he is in a hurry to finish it.
Compared to action packed first two books, its bit boring because of its length and slow phase. Also this is not the type of climax you would be expecting from Shiva. It would have been better if it was shortened by at least 1/3rd . To be frank while reading the last half, I was reading it just because I have completed first two books and just wanted to know the climax.

5.0 out of 5 starsBuy All three Books

I am not a regular reader but this book made me one. I can say that.

I bought only first part of the trilogy because I wanted to have it try.But Part 1 complled me to buy second and third book of this series.

After reading all 3 books I can say that you will not get bored . Though it is fiction based on some factual names and places, It will improve your thinking and you can relate some of the explanations dipicted in this books to real world .

Over all It is a mixture of fictions and facts and your perception for Shiva as god will completely change.

one more thing This book contains a rich vocabulary which can enhance your literature sense and you are going to learn new things which you can apply in your day to day conversation , speech and writting.

SHIVA TRILOGY
Written by Amish Tripathi
This was the first series of books that I read one after another back to back.
This entire series contains total three books,
i.e.
1☞THE IMMORTALS OF MELUHA (1st book)
2☞THE SECRET OF THE NAGAS (2nd book)
3☞THE OATH OF THE VAYUPUTRAS (3rd book).
Obviously this series is a mythological fiction.
This entire series has everything like thrill, mystery, obviously a lot of action, adventure, some times comedy, tragedy & many more things, which make this book a perfect read for everyone.
I spent almost the entire august with this books, they were damn good & attractive. And obviously a page flipper without any doubt.
Basically I heard a lot about this books therefore I had started reading it & i'm not disappointed at all.
This is obviously not a review, i'll share my review regarding every single book of this series ASAP.
I really like everything about the book like the plot, storytelling, writing style etc.
I would say,, everyone should read the 1st book atleast, because I'm pretty sure that after reading the first book nobody can resist himself/herself from buying the next book.

4.0 out of 5 starsWhat is the truth???
19 December 2017
Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase
I read all 3 parts of Shiva Trilogy and loved that, but the obvious question which now question myself is, what is the truth. I believe what Amish has written is not fiction, and if that is not fiction then what all we have heard and read since our childhood, was that wrong. I think that question might be with other also, but important thing is "ANSWER", which, I am not sure, is with whom.

4.0 out of 5 starsNot so good ending...
20 December 2018
Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase
The shiva triology... A great fiction with roots in hindu mythology... This book is not so new for book lovers and those who are not new le'me tell in India it is one of the very famous book.
The mighty god of gods and devils and everything the mighty pashupati is reimagined as a common MAN... Yes it was something new for readers which made this book become a bestseller in less time.
The story is well narrated I would not spoil your experience telling anything but I may recommend this book... But but but there is one thing that even if the gods are re imagined as common people then also the end should be a happy one... If you are familiar with story of lord shiva then, we know that parvati ( his wife) gives up her body in Daksha (her father) yagya... Now this is where the book disapoints me... The third part "oath of vayuputras" didn't pleased me as the 1st and 2nd part... But still I enjoyed the journey of a man god.
All the character and qualities are fitted very nicely in fictional character also.
If you want to enjoy this book really... Then just don't relate the fictional characters to real gods... Or you won't enjoy and also you won't be able to digest the story.

4.0 out of 5 starsA great mythology with unsatisfactory ending...
3 January 2019
Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase
This book is the third and the final installment in Shiva trilogy. From the beginning to the end it's about battle and war. It is full of strategies, tactics and philosophies.

Few things that might derail the reader is where few things goof up such as, vidyunmali is free and torturing the good guys, just after two chapters since his capture. No detailed explanation on how eaxctly he has escaped.
Another scene where sati continues to fight even after her skull is damaged, she manages to fight the best of assassins with deathly injuries. This was unbelievable for me.

Charters like Parvateshwar and sati ganied more respect than Shiva, by the end of the book.

At the end it's explained how Shiva, kartik, Ganesh and others were worshipped for the generations to come.

It's a entertaining book but a tad too long. Not the best of the series.

Successfully completed the best series, ‘SHIVA TRILOGY’. Most loveable series of my lifetime. Each and every page flabbergasted me a lot.

As with previous books of Shiva Trilogy, conclusion part also hauled into the book. My heart sank when I read the most hapless victim happen. After that lost an enthusiasm that was given throughout the series.

Apart from Neelkanth family, the character whom I loved the most is Parvateshwar, an exemplary follower of Lord Ram and Lord Neelkanth. Ayurvati, Anandamayi, Bhagirath, Nandi also well narrated.

Like to recommend to those who love historical myth and Lord Shiva. This series made you love Shiva even more.

What an imagination Amish have he parallel his imagination with the original story was brilliant.

Amish is not one of the best alive writers in India instead he is the best alive writer in India.
