Still Life is a warm, cozy and smart literary mystery novel with well developed characters, a beautiful setting (Three Pines was charming to say the least) and an engaging plot line.
First off, I really loved Armand Gamache. He is intelligent, perceptive, kind and yet, firm with a no nonsense attitude. I also liked the character of Jean Guy Beauvoir, the second in command to Gamache. Speaking of characters, there were quite a few of them, but their back stories and inter personal relationships were well told and convincing. Even though I’m no expert, I found that the Québécois culture was well presented. Overall, I was invested in the story, it’s characters and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25/5 stars (rounding it down a little to wait and see how the series progresses)
