🌼"It is in the darkness when you see light that is hidden deep within yourself"
🌿Book Name - Dreams beyond shadows 🍁Author Name - Kartikeya Ladha . 🏵️This book is all about achieving something in life, listening to your heart and knowing the purpose of the life. The book is the author's autobiography. He was doing a job in New York and decided to leave everything to find the purpose of the life. The journey begins with author locking himself in room and listening to his heart to know what he wants to do. The story is divided in to three parts. Complete surrender, the Ayahuasca journey and drifting mode. Each part defines author's journey towards achieving his goal. All the parts are very motivational and inspiration. 🌸First part is about how author decided to go to peru. How he met different people in his journey and how difficult it was to survive in peru without knowing anything not even their local language Spanish. 💮Second part is about Ayahuasca journey of Amazon jungle. This is best part where author has to face near death experience. The struggles , after effects of drinking Ayahuasca shots are well described. 💐Third part is about author's journey after the Amazon jungle. He talks about human spirit, love and shares his own experience with his friends. . 🌾First of all i want to thank author for taking me to Peru and Amazon jungle through his amazing words. He has nicely written all the descriptions of places , their local food and details about Amazon jungle in such a way that you will feel that you are travelling with him. The experiences of his struggles being in unknown city where you even don't know their language , finding place to sleep and food everything was written honestly. I love how with his super friendly nature,he met so many people in his journey from whom he learned something and each one helped him in his journey at some point of time. Love the way he has expressed his fear and how he chooses the path which could have lead to destruction but still he follows the unknown path and let go off his fears. I love poems written by author in each chapter. My favorite are THE TRUTH, FREEDOM and WINGS OF LIFE. The pictures of Author with his friends or the places he visited were adding extra interest in the book. The inspiration paragraphs written by author are lovely. Narration is very smooth with lucid language.
This was a 4 star read for me. I really fell into a thinking pit of introspection as I went over the words of the author. A few points of note: The cover was the first thing that drew me towards this book. It was just very aesthetic and almost psychedelic. The pink and the purples in the new cover design was out of this world. On the same note, the chapter cover pages were also very aesthetic with the inclusion of the design. The book was also a visual treat along with the deep content. The inclusion of the pictures from the author’s life also gave a glimpse and made it easier to understand the life of the author and thus, his words too. The poetry pieces were also great. I think they really brought together the narrative and gave outbursts of poetic emotions throughout, at regular intervals. Overall, I think this was a beautiful book – a sort of a mix between an autobiography and a motivational book. However, the fact that it was a personal story made it all the more effective and thus the reader became undoubtedly more empathic while reading. I myself was sucked in. I am at a stage in my life where I am happy and confident about what I want and how I feel. But at the same time, I also have seen around me, people going through quarter-life crises regarding what they want, their future, etc. As such, it was a book I could really feel in my bones. The book also has wonderful imagery. I love the way the author transitioned from the concrete jungles of the city (perhaps arguably the most famous city of the world) to beautiful Peru and then the dense Amazons. The book is also a travelogue in this sense and it gives you an amazing experience. I could almost see myself right in the center of it all. The narration is crisp and amazing and it totally gives you the ultimate traveling experience, while also making you ponder over the deeper questions of life. I really liked this book and am happy that this was my first non-fiction of the year, and most possibly the first travelogue I have ever read. I rated it 4/5 stars and recommend it to you all.
Okay, before I could say anything I just wanna say I am already a fan of the cover, howwhh beautiful it is! The fact that made me pick up this book was the blurb and the cover. Although, reading a travelogue is completely out of my comfort zone but I definitely wanted to try this one because I had a lot of expectations from the sperm and am glad to say that it did 10/10 on my expectations. The best part of the book was lyrical and poetical writing style which might be a bit difficult for beginners to get into but if you are someone who read a lot of works then I think this will just blow your mind. Its divided into three main parts and with industry pass the book take different kind of dance which leads to a beautiful journey of the author. . The amount of effort taken to bring out this on paper is much more than actually travelling the places because it's done in such a beautiful manner and that is reflected in the content + the writing. It like I started it yesterday and completed it today and it's way more beautiful than it seems. It feels like going to the places myself. Above everything, the author made me feel what he was feeling. The illustrations, the way he discussed things and interacted with people was note worthy. Well, it was so gripping and unpredictable till the end which gave certain happy and possibly the most positive vibes. It was full adventures and I will personally recommend it to everyone. . Rating: 4.5🌟
Often we have come at a crossroads in our life. Feeling stuck & overwhelmed by society's pressures, life's going nowhere and bla bla. 💥 Oh God. What a roller coaster ride it was reading this book. It's a travelogue with the authors own story of an adventure that leaves behind the hustle and bustle of new York, winds along Ayahuasca vine through the tribal magic in the Amazon jungle, into the Incan legacy of Peru,'s sacred valley & Machu picchu. 💥 The message which he wanted to convey was that it is possible for anyone to break away from time-bound limitations & relinquish the grip of the past. Some insights which I want to share from the book which I took as a learning were- 1) Our prime investments should be in our younger generations, who will take humanity forward & save our planet from being consumed by our own selfish desires. (PG 70-71) 2) Nobody is born as a morning person or night person. Their subconscious mind makes them identify with one or the other based on how the atmosphere at a particular time of the day makes them feel. (PG - 114). 3) People have forgotten how to live peacefully & harmoniously. It is the duty to remind people if the importance of living in connection with nature, nurture the values of compassion, kindness, respect and love for all beings. (Pg- 162) 💥 The images and graphics used in the book added as an advantage in the reading. The poems especially "The One" touched my heart. An inspiring read especially for those who think they have lost their way and are sacrificimg their dreams for society and other pressures.
Dream Beyond shadows by kartikeyaladha is not only a book but its author's own journey of life as a backpacker which he goes through and penned it so beautifully that I really thought this book has capability to inspire many people, the way he describes each emotion and feelings which came inside his heart or mind and it came out beautifully on paper. Some lines are like which I pen down in my diary for further reference and I totally agree with him that almost everybody in his or her life crossroads these paths so I recommend this book to everyone out there don't know this book just change your perspective towards life.
What if we happen to live our lives by our own mindset, not the societal laid definitions? What if the normalcy we do think is just another form of human’s manipulation? Even though I picked this read under the influence of gorgeous cover, the real beauty lies in the pages and every word in it. This book contains pure excitement of how and why the people do crazy kinds of stuff just to satisfy/feed their inner voice.
Dream Beyond Shadows is authored by Karthikeyaladha that narrates with full of life and rawness - why did he choose to go on a life-changing adventure relinquishing his job & cosmopolitan life in NYC to go to Peru, to discover the true purpose of life. The sole purpose is to break away from his well-defined path. During his journey, He tells the readers of his findings & many learning’s from travel experiences. Along with embracing the feel of freedom, he makes the readers wonder why his globe-trot puts their mind in turmoil to find peace.
“It was time to surrender. Surrender myself to the world. World beyond realms of despair. Despair to be broken. With hope. Hope to love. Love to see. See the world. The world that exists inside and outside.”
I love this poem that resonates the eternal sweetness of love to live a life. The sweetness of coexisting peacefully with our mother nature and reminds us to have unconditional love, no matter how the people could be or what the past might be.
What a wonderful read this was, I mean right from the start till its end. Dividing the book into 3 chapters of Complete Surrender, the first part where he off to Peru (in name of working as a volunteer for NGO), Ayahuasca Journey, the second part where he describes the Ayahuasca vine magic and Drifting mode, the final part in which he narrates the moments of connecting with the spirit.
Through this, he did journal the travels with so much gusto with wide varieties of cultural references, the different community people he met throughout, especially with the shamanic ceremonies in the Amazon Jungle and the realizations that were made to connect him with the nature to channel the totality of this universe.
Kartikeya Ladha’s ‘Dream Beyond Shadows’ is one of those rare books that I can read over and over again. Which is even rarer for a person, who with all her heart detest reading any Self-Help or Spiritual books.
You ask me Why? Because it’s really really good… And really helpful for someone who is going through some sort of identity crisis or a mental block, hindering the very peace of mind which we to ultimately strive for.
Kartikeya Ladha’s ‘Dream Beyond Shadows’ is an inspiring tale that is part autobiographical, part spiritual, part travelogue and part poetry.
When I started with this book, I was unaware that it was to be a delight to read. Each turn of page, unconsciously released me from knots I never realised I was tied into. This book is a story of Kartikeya’s journey to self realization, that there is more to life than a successful career and a life of luxury. That life needs simplicity to thrive on, not the complexities we humans create for ourselves.
The Author decides to quit his job and take on a path that he never before thought of treading. The path of self actualisation through a journey of wanderer and a wonderer.
Kartikeya travels to Peru in South America, where he encounters many soul enlightening experiences, which changes the Author in a very spiritual way.
Kartikeya Ladha’s spiritual journey inspired me on a very deeper level. It kind of forced me to contemplate about the journey I was in and it’s consequences that may impact the mental well being.
The best part about the book is Kartikeya’s narrative. It felt like smooth flowing river; calm and harmonious. What’s more, the author weaved this beautiful journey intricately into an inspiring tale. I applaud the author with all my heart.
Dream beyond Shadows has earned a 4 star for its beautifully written story and the lesson it teaches to its readers.
"I had been burying myself under the ground. It was time to emerge from the dark, And walk the path I was born to lead, To discover the purpose that would be mine." . . This book is author's autobiography. He left his well-paying job in New York to find out his purpose in life. The entire journey of self realization is what this book is all about. The entire book is divided into three parts: complete surrender, the Ayahuasca Journey and Drifting . So what is complete surrender, Ayahuasca Journey and Drifting Mode? . Complete Surrender is author's journey to Peru and his experiences with the local over there. Ayahuasca is his journey to the jungles of Amazon. Drifting Mode is where the author talks about love, human spirits and friendship. . The lyrical and poetic writing, the pictorial references, crisp and lucid narration, transitions from city life to hardcore travelling and facing the frustrations and quarter life crisis is what got to me. . For someone like me who feels that travelling is in her blood, I simply loved this travelogue. I am glad that the author gathered courage to leave his stagnant job, pack his bags and leave on a journey to find himself. The book was a roller coaster ride and at so many points had I the urge to go pack my bags!! . The author rightly points out that people at large have forgotten what it is to live harmoniously. We are in a constant race with ourselves and with peers. The poems scattered between the paragraphs were like cherry on the top of the cake. . Definitely recommended to everyone, especially travel enthusiasts! I have surely added so many new places to my bucket list!! . .
It's a travelogue. Undoubtedly a very unique book I have ever came across. Starting from the cover, it's so beautiful and gorgeous. I was attracted to the cover of the book to pick this one at first. Also the title is fascinating. It's basically a motivational book, where the author takes you to his journey of self discovering. The story is divided into three parts. In the first part i.e. complete surrender, the author where successfully working and living in the happening New York city, quits his job and prepares himself for taking the risk of visiting unknown land and to find the purpose of his life. On the second part of the story The Ayahuasca Journey is mentioned. The adventurous journey in Peru and Amazon journey, and the magnificent beauty of those place to read is to die for. And lastly in drifting mode, the elements like the awakening of soul, the human spirit and the inner voice have been portrayed. It's very beautiful book and motivating, self inspiring. It's an autobiography of the author, who have experienced this amazing journey in his life. The writing style of the author is praise worthy. Despite it being a lengthy book, it's still very engaging. The narration is lucid and clear. The language is profound and easily understandable by all. Will definitely recommend this book to every readers and specially to the ones who loves reading autobiography which is adventurous in nature and also those who are into travelogue. The title is apt for the storyline. This story gives the message to break away time bound limitations and relinquish the grip of the past.
This is a book of author travelogue and with beautiful cover , and story is too good i like the author work and time he give to book and did justice with good and easy language to understand writing. It's a story of guy from India who left his job in Brooklyn , New york and went back to India and then went to Peru for a course and found his inner self which he lost and want to experience something new and want to discover and want to live a life of real society , to socialize and to get his spirit enlightenment during this and he shown us Peru from an different angel and perspective, He conquer his fear he socialize, met strangers live with them, enjoy his journey did something on his own, work and stays in hostel help in work and went to different places. He met people come to know there stories and there experience of life and foreigners like him who are visiting Peru for all the different reasons . This is beautiful description of the novel and he fall for a girl too . . The only thing i like to suggest author to do with book is that you must add vocabulary of Spanish he speak as Everytime a new Spanish word appears one has to use Google to know meaning which break the flow of reader to read the book. . Second thing that i find ironic as he went to Amazon jungle and get elinated from the spiritual course , they teach them to treat body as temple but first thing they did after leaving jungle Is that he got himself inked..
