A collector's delight
17 October 2017
If you're looking for some sensational stuff and revelations, you will be disappointed. It also lets down all those cynics that questioned timing and motives. Raghuram Rajan writes the book the way objective people and especially those outside of India know him to be - Scholarly, sophisticated and passionate to his beliefs. The book explains the workings of RBI both from the exalted status of Governor and the ramifications to the ordinary citizen. For someone not belonging to the financial domain, I found the book and the demystifying of economic jargon quite an education.
Rajan's views are presented with academic zeal, apolitical wisdom and self-effacing too. There is little of "I' and more of "WE" in the path breaking work initiated during his tenure. Alas , wish there was some humor or salacious tit-bits, surely Mr.Rajan must've been privy to some. Anyways, the book is a collector's delight.
