'The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.' Animal Farm is an amazing work by George Orwell. In this, he makes use of his stupefying imagination and prowess to exploit his wit to throw light on the tragedy of modern history. The book deals with the uprising of animals against humans eventually becoming the one to the extent that it becomes difficult to differentiate between them. The book is a satire on the hegemony of the humans first, and then, of the pigs. A short book with loads of intellectual food to feed your brains!
I will not be commenting on the story told by the book, as I haven't completely read it yet (and also, we have goodreads for that). The quality of the book and the print is absolutely delightful for its price (I got for Rs.50 on a sale). Though being a paperback cover, the cover is actually quite thick and feels more like a hardback. The quality of paper used is really good for the price.
It's been a really good experience overall with Amazing Reads publications.
Animal Farm is a book by George Orwell. On the surface level, it is a story of a farm which is overtaken by the animals who wanted to be free from human control. After driving their owner Mr. Jones away, they worked towards improving their conditions. However, the things changed when few animals became greedy for power. 🐷 As known to all, the book is a comment on the events which took place in Russia. Right from the shift of power, manipulation of facts, dictatorship and abuse of power, Orwell criticised all of it by using animals to highlight the ugly state of affairs. 🐷 One can also read the book in a general way by relating it to the actions of most of the people in power, who take advantage of others and manipulate things in their favour.
The book starts off with the revolt against the human. Then the taste of freedom. Soon new rules are made for welfare of the animal. Pigs are intelligent when compared to other animals. Taking this into advantage pigs starts being at a better position. Soon all the good things are allowed for the pigs. The prior rules or commandments are changed according to their own comfort.
Sadly this can be related to actual communal situation. Once having power they are ready to do every sort of thing for their own benefit. Eliminate of anyone stands against them. Even many powerful people do follow this. People need to be educated and understand how this will affect us. Can be related to communism.
Present day example, shabarimala problem created by the cpim gov to make people fight over religion. It just relatable to this book's situation. Powerful people have control over everything whereas others are revolting but not so fruitful.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
LOVED THIS BOOK! Highly recommend to all.. Orwell has brought forward a dark period through animals brilliantly. It is a social satire but the language is very simple. Everyone must read this. Nothing more I want to say, just read it.. Appropriate for everyone, only the perception about the story will vary depending upon the age group. Moreover,if you are a literature student, read it!
"All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others"- George Orwell A group of animals in Manor farm are subject to slavery under the hands of their master Mr.Jones. They put an amazing fight with him with the agenda of equality among animals
But the intelligent ones among the animals take control over the animals only to make the condition of slavery even more
Skilfully written with a strong satire. Strongly recommended. George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm should be read by all those who wants a glimpse into the machinations of political ideologies which hold true for every age and generation.
Animal Farm is a fictional work of satire in which animals are written in anthropomorphic style. Mr. Jones, owner of Manor Farm who is very cruel and incompetent is defeated by the animals of the farm and they took over the farm for themselves. What started as a revolution to overthrow cruel and harsh practices of humans and set up a society for catered towards the need of the animals soon turned into another form of dictatorship. The animals find themselves ruled by one manipulative dictator to another.
The story have strong undertones of politics and some argue it represents the Russian Revolution that took place in 1917. There is also a lot of commentary on how people in power can change the rules to suit themselves. The various animals on the farm represent different people of the Russian Revolution and post Stalin era. The book is a genius piece of allegory work and I absolutely loved reading it. Highly recommend.
Well, it's an Orwell what else can I say about it. Some people (including me) felt his books as dystopian, but when I shift my perspective it makes George Orwell a Visionary. A man who saw the future and Animal Farm will give you a good example of that. A book which shows the tactical Politics in a farm and how it precisely fits into the modern day scenario. It will shake you completely, sometimes you will wish why you started but my advice, read it completely as you will attain peace and you will learn something new. This book and the author deserves to be one of the best as he is already. A must read.
"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." °°° ANIMAL FARM BY GEORGE ORWELL. °°° This was my first read by George Orwell. Also, I have start reading 1984. Beautiful read I must say. It was a really short read with lot of intellectual meaning. The author has used animals to show the ugly truth and reality of how many abuses their power and dictatorship. A must read book.
