Gripped me tight and took me to Garhwal of the 1920s

I had been meaning to read this book for years, having been recommended it by friends, and more so after making a few trips myself to the forests of Central India. I love the dry-yet-dramatic style of British writing found in accounts from the Raj era, and this book is probably the best example of it.
The book not only offers an enthralling and detailed account of the events it describes, but also establishes why Corbett, with his courage, humility and regard for nature and village-folk, forever deserves honour and respect.
