BOTS is an enticing story and has all the elements of a fantasy fiction. The comprehensive description of the Core (one of the three layers of the Earth), its system of government and inhabitants is brilliant and takes the reader on a sensory journey to an unseen world. This shows the Author’s creativity and innovation. Her clever formulation of incantations is exceptional. Her use of words from different languages to create spells shows the extensive research she had undertaken. The three youngsters Jacelyn, Reffin and Althea, their determination to fulfill what is destined for them… the mission to save the Earth essentially form the crux of the story. The challenges they face and sacrifices they make in the process, their courage and conviction are phenomenal. Their willingness to protect their friends over their own selves is heart-warming. Reffin is my favourite of all the three main characters. Despite his people being destroyed by the people on the Crust, he wants to protect it so the innocent can live. His plan to let the war happen and use it to their advantage is ingenious. His act of valour where he was ready to lay his life to save the Cruman King (his foster father) who had never loved him is remarkable. The supporting characters Rip, Ciera, Aagney and Marcus are impressive and they stand by their friends through thick and thin and are conducive to keep you engaged with the story. The events happening inside the Tower of Ptolemae are gripping. The three stages of the game that Jacelyn has to solve in order to safely exit the tower are intricately written and well-crafted and you cannot but marvel at the young Author’s intrinsic talent. At the end of the story, you learn along with Jacelyn, that it is the right and selfless choices you make over the chances you’re given makes what you truly are…fearless, hopeful and confident. And that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment in every possible way so the Earth can be saved from future destruction. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Although this book is predominantly for children and teens, being a voracious reader of fantasy novels, it kept me engrossed all the way through. I recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.
Very good novel. There is excellent detailed description of the characters. It is a fascinating read. Looks like there will be a sequel to the book. It is amazing that a young person of 15 years could have created such a great imaginative fiction.
My elder son is developing habit of reading books and this book is one of those which he liked the most. The narratives are detailed and wonderfully written. My son was able to visualize every bit what author wanted to convey. He is asking me for some more books of similar sought.. Very well done.
I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity and profound strain of thought in such a young writer. We could easily relate to the present world politics and environmental problems in the story. I was happy to have spent my time in reading the book. I wish Melita all the best in all her future endeavours and assure her to read all her books.
A well-written sequence of geniously thought fictional elements which only gets progressively better in chronology. Melita has dramatically overcome expectations as I did not expect such levels of creativity and skill from someone as young as her.
What a WONDERFUL book it was.....Every second reading it was worth it.......Glad to see young authors coming up with such good stories......One of the best fictional stories i've ever read.....HATS OFF TO THE AUTHOR..
Feeling proud to review about melita. The essence of the fictious part was maintained till the end. No words to explain about her narration, screenplay etc., More than a writer, she is a good speaker. Hope you know that a good speaker must be a good listener. She is multi talented. I feel proud because i will say to my present students that Melita is my student. Kudos to her parents especially her mother who motivate her to give such a wonderful book BATTLE OF SPHERES. Eagerly waiting for next.... wishing you the very best MELITA.. keep going.. mighty young..
