I picked this book based on a recommendation from an author whose work I greatly admire. Turns out this was a great decision - whether I was influenced greatly even before I read a word , i wouldnt be able to say but at least I will admit that there was always a higher probability that I was under a positive influence. That being said , it's hard to pull together a narrative that is aiming to simplify complex thoughts on mind and brain. Tali Sharot makes a superb effort in articulating her thoughts on these subjects and you will walk away with great insights through this compelling read.
The most important fact that I found out after reading the book was that we involuntarily absorb information from our surroundings with out our conscious involvement and even use it in our lives. It’s learning through others experiences which are fruits of our social interactions. This really emphasises the value of being in good company and rich environment. Tali has put all facts interwoven in stories and incidences making the read quite enjoyable and easy to recall. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing so.
