But a good and extremely interesting subject. Too much of name dropping which required me to google a lot. The writing is not very mature, though the subject is enough to raise curiousity and the book to a NYT bestseller.
It's great how the discovery of certain elements has blended into the science of chemistry, from innocent pranks to the awe and wonders of these fascinating elements,Sam Kean has indeed held our attention close to reality yet sprinkled with some fantastic fiction
If only I would have read this book in school, trust me I would have been a Chemist or Chemical Engineer out of passion for chemicals. This book appears to be a compilation of stories of each element or groups of elements: their chemical structure, how they behave, how they came to origin and many more. The flow of the book is beautifully smooth, the author keeps you hooked but there is a need to have few pitstops in between due to over dose of chemistry as you sometimes require some time to digest the sheer beauty of our chemical environment. All in all must read for chemistry lovers and definitely so for everyone else too.
