Madame Anira Réva, a world-famous medium whose accurate predictions have helped not only clients but even law enforcement agencies, is assailed with a strange and dangerous predicament: she foresees her own death and has been repeatedly threatened by a demonic entity that her next séance will be her last one. She requests Paul Putt, ex-reporter and liaison extraordinaire with the Mittend Hill police force, to attend her next séance and chronicle what follows. Initially skeptical, Paul Putt, his curiosity fanned, nonetheless agrees to attend and is soon caught in a deadly maelstrom where one after another all the people that had been present in the séance room start dying even as a fresco on the wall that mimicked the seating arrangement of the seven guests, three staff members and Madame Reva herself begins to undergo startling changes – in red after each death. What is this power that can pick victims - spread all over the city and right under police protection - with such impunity and lead them to their graves? Will Putt survive the ordeal or he too end up as a victim? Is there a human element behind the murders or as the very nature of the motiveless crime seems to suggest - a supernatural and diabolical fiend is orchestrating the whole show?
