My daughter & I played the original Cobra Kai game when it first came out, and we still play it every few months. Despite the first game being a very basic 2-D style fighting game with unimpressive graphics, we love it. While I had heard that this game was horrible, I still thought it could offer some value and entertainment, since we are big Cobra Kai fans with realistic expectations that are fairly easily met.
This game is so incredibly unpolished I was utterly speechless. There's no navigational instructions. We were trying to find out which of the 3 modes lets us play at the same time and fight the enemy, just as we did in the original Cobra Kai game. Then we discovered there is NO mode which allows us to fight on the same team; only 1 mode which puts you on opposing dojos fighting against each other. The winner advances. The loser, watches while the winner plays? Really? How could you NOT have this as an option to play in this game?
I could get past the horrible camera angles, the choppy cut scenes, the image blurring, and the overall graphics resembling something from a Sega Genesis if only for the ability to play 2 player co-op, (same team, fight dudes, rinse repeat).
We weren't expecting much, but this was even worse than that. My guess is the small company who made this game blew their budget on the real actor voices and had no money left to code, program or test the game. I'm 50 years old, so I remember all of the old games and consoles. There isn't a single game I've ever been so completely disappointed with. Save your money. Buy any other game on the planet than this one.
