    Good Router....But Poor Quality!

    Good Router....But Poor Quality!
This is an honest opinion about the iBall Baton iB-WRD12EN 1200M after a week's usage. Unfortunately, I had to return it because I replaced it once and the replacement router also stopped working after a week. Although I am providing an unbiased review of the product after a week's use. I ordered it during Prime day and received fast and reliable delivery from AMAZON (big fan of that). Apart from that, the product that I received the first time was damaged(the router was functioning but the login page was not accessible) I blame the vendor for sending a faulty product. After registering a replacement amazon sent an agent to pick it up the next day and provided me with a replacement (thank you Amazon again). The second replacement worked for a week and blacked out due to an unknown reason (it literally died, no lights no power, tried powering it with another 9v adapter but still didn't work) The Router itself was of low-quality but had all the bells and whistles that a dual-band router should have. Pros: 1. Lightweight (Is made of plastic and is hollow from inside, can see the thin card from in between the vents) 2. Excellent Range 2.4GHz (the range was so great that it covered my 2BHK house as well as my neighbor's house too) 3. Easy setup ( Iball has a very easy and practical interface with an easy setup which can be done even by a layman) 4. 5GHZ signal (The 5Ghz signal was fast as compared to the 2.4ghz obviously but had a shorter range as compared to the 2.4 bands) 5. Multiple devices (The router handles multiple devices like a BEAST, it give total control over each device and shows the usage and also provides blocking options) Cons: 1. Cheap material used ( The Router itself felt cheap and one drop would completely break it I guess, my second replacement router blacked out on the 7th day of purchase without any warning, so I suggest you keep your warranty card in handy if you're thinking of keeping this product for the long run. 2. Box comes opened (I enquired amazon about this and they told me that the product is tested before being shipped, but I feel that it is not logical as the package can easily tamperd) 3. MAC ID spoof is just a gimmick! Conclusion: I guess if my router would continue working then it would be an all in one router looking at the price point of 899 (amazon prime day discount). But the quality is questionable and the router may work for years or it may get spoilt in a day or a week like mine did. Overall the features and the specs perform as advertised but I strongly recommend keeping your warranty card handy for the future! I hope this will be of help to the people who purchase the product and a small suggestion to amazon please do verify your vendors/suppliers and have frequent quality checks.

The power adaptor of the WiFi router was faulty, but I had a spare one at home so that wasn't a problem. If you face the same problem, there are replacement/return options also available.

This router is an exact clone of Tenda AC5. I knew about this before buying this router, but still proceeded to buy it because this was a lot cheaper than Tenda AC5 (and the time of me buying it). I even proceeded to install the Tenda firmware because the stock iBall firmware lacks some features. It's working perfectly. I can even manage it with the Tenda WiFi app.

So basically this is the Tenda AC5 rebranded as the iBall Baton iB-WRD12EN, with the same hardware.

It gives an excellent signal in our 850 sq.ft flat. Both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals can be picked even in the far corners. 64MB RAM and 1GHz processor is pretty powerful for a router at this price range. The maximum speed attainable in 2.4GHz is 300mbps and 5GHz is 900mbps.

The front red coloured LED's do a great job of telling the WAN/LAN/WiFi status. They can also be turned on/off permanently or put on auto turn off schedule.

All devices can easily be managed from the Web UI/the app. You can set up access controls for each device separately.
The one-click device blocking is very useful in case any unauthorised device connects to your network.

The WiFi router can be remotely managed from any internet connection(3G/4G/other WiFi hotspot) via the app, after you enable the app support from the Web UI.

Overall a great choice for people who need dual band support alongwith good range and ample features at a budget price.

After using it for 8 months and being satisfied by its performance.

I am on a 75Mbps fiber connection and tried mi router earlier which had single band support. So I decided to try out this iBall router after doing some research.

I got ample coverage except at the farthest corners and I get good speeds too beyond 3 walls and 2 doors which none of my previous routers could provide.

If you have a large house over 3500sq ft and a fiber connection, I recommend you buy a pair of these and use one as your primary router and the second one in WISP mode. This way you need not buy a single expensive router which won't provide you blanket coverage and you don't have to invest in repeaters which may not be quite efficient and also bring up the cost significantly.

      PROS:

      - Cheapest router with both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band.
      - 2.4 Ghz signal penetration is excellent. Capable of transmitting signals through thick walls and doors.
      - Easy to configure.
      - Works 24x7, no need to reboot at all and absolutely no heating.
      - Has a dedicated Android app which can be used to control the router even remotely!
      - Has beamforming feature which enables the router to determine the location of your device and project strong signals precisely to that location thereby improving the wifi reception.
      - Has anti-interference if enabled reduces the interference if there are a lot of wifi networks in your area.
      - Bandwidth control for every connected device which lets you set the upload and download speed for all devices.
      - Guest mode.
      - Can configure a VPN account directly to this router. PPTP/L2TP supported.
      - Can turn off the LED lights or schedule it to turn off automatically during specified hours.
      - Can clone a MAC address.
      - Can be mounted to wall for better coverage.
      - 3 year warranty with good after sales support.

      CONS:

      - 5Ghz signal is little bit weak. After one wall, the 5Ghz network deteriorates.
      - No MIMO or Gigabit port (These can be easly ignored considering the price).

Got the router in very good packaging by appario, talking about the router let me get this straight- this router is exact copy (rebranded) of Tends AC5, hardware is exactly same even the firmware and app are just way too similar, so rather than purchasing tenda ac5 I just purchased this and installed Tenda AC5 firmware on this I ball router for more features and it works flawlessly, rather than paying 2k for Tenda ac5 just buy this at 1.6k and install tenda firmware, even the tenda app works flawlessly, talking about the experience, it is obvious that at this price you wont get gigabit port, but that's not a big problem if your connection speed is 100mbps or less, it comes with beamforming+ which kinda works but can't really tell the difference, other than this every thing Is working like expected, now the million dollar question, does this router support MU-MIMO? the answer is YES! it's funny that many people don't know about it but MU MIMO is standard with 4 stream 5ghz AC band routers, so if a router has 4 antennas and does support 5ghz AC Wave 2 then it definitely supports MU MIMO as per the standard, so this I ball router does support MU MIMO, note that beamforming is only supported on 5ghz band, range of 2.4 GHz was really good but 5ghz not so much, but we can't blame manufacturer for this as it's nature of high frequency wifi waves to have less range.
I may haven't covered all the points but I covered those that are to the most importance to anyone stuck deciding whether to buy or not, I'll say if you want to future proof then skip this router as it only supports WAN speed upto 100mbps, other than that just go for it

Product is good for Internet speed upto 25 to 30mbps.. I gives full strength and network speed.. however when I tried using it for only 50mbps plan the speed could not show above 27 to 35 mbps.. I had to buy another router from tp link that gives me full strength and full speed coverage in mobile devices as well as in my laptop.. Although don't keep very high expectations from highly discounted products.. thanks
