After much research for 1 month and taking demo from Yamaha 1840/3072/RXV385, Denon250BT/550BT and Pioneer's entry level AVR's, I zeroed down to Yamaha's HTR-3072-IN. Its currently the best AVR supporting almost all the standards compared the the entry level offerings from other brands. Video - 4k 60Hz HDR10 and Dolby Vision with 10 bit deep colors Passthrough with 4k upscaling for 1080p signals. 4k upscaling needs to be disabled if your TV has inbuilt 4k upscaling feature. Audio - 5.1 Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Pro LogicII, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-MA, DTS-MA-HD, DTS-Neo passthrough. What impressed me more is CinemaDsp proprietary feature which only Yamaha offers. It very easily down mixes 7.1 channels to 5.1 in any of the above standards with ease and reproduces the signal using dual channel. Sound quality is Yamaha. Bluetooth makes life easy listening to music from bluetooth sources. Setup was real easy. The best thing is, it can passthrough AV signal from all attached sources to TV via HDMI even if AVR is on standby. Equipped with ARC and E-ARC, system is future proof. 5.1 surround experience in my mid size living room nearly matches theatre experience. Speakers and Sub Woofers you can always upgrade. As of now Yamaha's NS-P41 is the entry level speaker system i am using which is giving more than i wished for enjoying my hi res 4k movies and Blu rays. It matches well with this AVR.
