Background: I wanted to pick up a Bose speaker for my TV (purely for Netflix & Prime Video). I walked into a local Bose store. Heard the Soundbar 500 (with BM 500) - the bundle was close to a lakh. But the soundbar 500 was disappointing since it does not have the wide soundstage of the soundbar 700 - which is very expensive by itself (@79k). After some evaluation & discussion with the sales person - they offered me the outgoing model Soundtouch 300 bundled with the BM500. I got a great price on the bundle since its an outgoing model. I live in a 2bhk apartment & the massive BM700 or AM300 would have been an overkill & possibly a notice from neighbours.
Now back to the BM500: the compact cubical footprint is perfect if you stay in a smaller apartment. I prefer it. Big sound from a small bass module. Looks clean, sounds punchy & there is ample power on offer here. BM700 or AM300 sound amazing on the bose showroom floor (compared to BM500) but for 30k INR more than the BM500, the performance is not 2x. Get the BM700 over BM500 only if you have a big room & you stay in a house where neighbours won't complain when their windows rattle with the bass rumble. Now dont get me wrong, the BM500 will do that as well. In my experience (paired with the ST300 soundbar) - I am loving the experience. The ST300 is the same as the new SB700 (minus the Alexa) and paired with the BM500, its pure bliss. My 12x14 bedroom shakes with rumbles from this compact sub. Being wireless - its easier to hide it away from the TV cabinet/stand. I love it.
