Amazing story telling and brilliant photography. The music by Mourice Jarre takes the movie to the pinnacle! Omar Sharif as Yuri gives one of his best performances. He cheats on his loving wife with the "other woman", but you still have sympathy for him, don't hate him and end up liking him! Julie Christie as Lara is good, not a very tough role play. Tarek Sharif is simply adorable....those eyes...! Tom Courtenay is good as an angry young man who has revolution soaked in from head to toe. But the one who touches your heart is Geraldine Chaplin as Tonya who gives a fresh, brilliant performance, makes a lasting impression and all at ease! Tonya is a small role but Ms. Chaplin has made it into such a memorable one by her outstanding performance as a wife who has unconditional love for her cheating husband, more importantly has no hate for the "other woman" and all with a little innocence! If you forget a few flaws about the ice and snow not being real etc etc, it is one of the best movies from Hollywood.
