Great travel instrument!
23 February 2018
I own six guitars and a ukulele. I bought this as I was looking for a guitar that I could lug around during my frequent travels.
First things first. It came well packed and was delivered on time. There were no damages anywhere.
Now there aren’t many brands offering guitaleles. I chose this one since it wasn’t too expensive and was also easily available.
The guitalele seems decently built. Not the best, but certainly acceptable. Finish is fine, though there were few light smudges on the body, and some frets seemed a little rough. The sides, the bridge and the headstock are solid and well made (the headstock is VERY thick). The top and back, though, are really thin. A bump on these parts could potentially finish the guitalele. That’s a little worrisome and needs extra precaution while handling.
Coming to sound and playability. Intonation in bang on accurate and the sound is really sweet. The volume and projection is pretty good considering the small size. Playability is quite decent, though I would have preferred a little lower action. Again, I’m just nitpicking and this is not a deal breaker.
The guitalele comes with a soft case, so that’s a nice touch.
The thing to keep in mind is that a guitalele is tuned A-D-G-C-E-A (6th to 1st string). That’s like a guitar with a capo on the fifth fret. So while you can play all the chords of the guitar, they would actually be five semi tones higher. That implies considerable transposing of chords if you’re playing with another guitar or keyboard or vocals.
If it’s just practice you are looking for during your trips, then this guitalele makes perfect sense.
At a cost of 5600₹ with a case, I think it’s a great buy and whole lot of fun. Definitely recommended.
Well done BAJAAO and Amazon!
