A good enjoyable read

I am not a big fan of romance novels so it took me a while to convince myself to pick one. Rubina's Destined is written in an easy language and tells the story of Esha, who ends up in a contract marriage with Rohan to save her father from cancer.
What I liked about the story was the way it addressed a very important social issue where a woman is not expected to take care of her parents after marriage. Esha is a rebel who has the courage to go against the norm and challenge the set rules of the society. I liked how she confronts those who question her stand. Her chemistry with Rohan is narrated very well. The character of Zaira also stands out.
What I did not like about the book was the editing. It sagged at places. Somehow, even though the story revolved around people going through trauma and life-changing decisions, I did not feel the connection with the characters. They required more depth. I would have preferred more nuances.
Having said that, the book was enjoyable although not mind-blowing. Rubina tells the tale well and I wish her great success in the future.
