Finally it is so wonderful to hear a Hindi film music soundtrack that actually sounds like it belongs in a Hindi movie instead of a loud, English-sounding soundtrack that have become so common. There are ten tracks compose by Himesh Reshammiya.
The soundtrack opens with the dhols and shehanaiyans filled ‘Prem Leela’, followed by the gorgeous title track ‘Prem ratan dhan payo’. Next is the super-romantic ‘Jalte diye’ sung endearingly by Anweshaa and Shabab Sabri. The opening notes by Harshdeep Kaur in ‘Jalte diye’ are praise-worthy! Next up is the delightful and breezy ‘Aaj unse milna hai’ and there are two equally touching reprise versions of this song – ‘Murli ki taanon si’ and ‘Aaj unse kehna hai’. ‘Halo re’ is a short and sweet song praising Radha-Krishna. ‘Jab tum chaho’ is a fun conversationally styled song. I felt the dancey ‘Tod tadaiyya’ to be the most average song from the soundtrack. ‘Bachpan kahan’ sung by Himesh in a very restrained and a nuanced way is beautiful.
