I took a plunge and what an experience it is. Its not technical to setup, you just need to plugin Ethernet cable and HDDs (obviously) and rest is just automatic. Build quality is obviously finished and its just minimalist. 4 LEDs and a power button. Real magic is its software(OS) that has TONS of option. It can practically pull your data from any cloud service or vice versa(no need to keep your system on after setup). It can be mapped as network drive. It can actively backup your system drives (or partitions) It can download torrent, http, ftp and other protocols. It can connect with your smart TV on same network. It can host chats on your network. It can be your cloud drive. It comes with even an anti-virus.
Well these are just a few features and I am not even diving into technical features. Buy it and put the biggest pair of drives you can afford. You will feel sooner than you can imagine. You won't regret.
P.S. - Get a gigabit switch if you don't have already. Must for better speed.
Its very high end Disk station. I am still learning to use it. My primary syncing requirements are fulfilled but still lot of things are required to be checked. You shouldn't have to depend on Synology's client software for making it a personal cloud. Once I do it I will change my review.
