Why only 5 stars, as far as the movie is concerned it should get 25/ 5. The movie weaves around a young couple whose dreams of blissful togetherness is suddenly shattered when the man is killed during a freak mugging. The story is all about how supernatural happening helps his lover cope with the loss, how the guilty finds his way to his nemesis.... its a touching story... I saw the movie for the first time about two decades ago, later many more times, and, finally wanted to add it to my DVD Collections.
As far as folks in India are concerned, this movie DVD is region encoded. It has a region code 2, meaning it it can only be played or viewed in Western Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, and Japan. See the attached screenshot of region codes. The main reason why many Indians who have purchased this DVD are not able to play it in their media players.
So that the DVD can be played viewed in India, the region code needs to be 5, else the DVD is useless, your DVD player will not play it.The seller should clearly mention this fact in their listing, and Reliance Entertainment who are presenting this movie on DVD in India should know this and should have refrained from distributing it in Indian market. They should have explicitly mentioned in all the online listings of such region coded releases. Copyrights and viewer rights are infringed if the DVD is viewed in regions other than which it is meant for. This is the third time I have come across a Reliance Entertainment presented DVD which was region encoded, so, it seems Reliance Entertainment is either blissfully unaware of this issue, or they are feigning ignorance and deliberately pushing such products into markets they are not meant for.
For me this has been a waste of time and money.... As per Amazon's trading policies, though replacements are not there, refunds are permitted in most cases of defective/ damaged DVDs/ VCDs, however, they dont collect back the trash. Options left are either to keep the media items with us or dispose them in any manner we may choose to or even donate them in charity. Instead of having to donate a media which wont play in India, I'll choose to think that I paid 449.10 in charity, and trash the Disc, and save my self from the intricacies involved in demanding a refund.
BUYERS PLEASE CHECK THE REGION CODES FOR DVDS/ VCDs BOUGHT ONLINE... ASK THE SELLER/ VENDOR ABOUT THE REGION CODE APPLICABLE BEFORE PLACING ORDER. A WAY TO KNOW WHAT REGION YOUR MEDIA PLAYER IS COMPATIBLE WOULD BE TO CHECK THE INFORMATION IN THE BACK PANEL OF YOUR PLAYER OR THE USERS MANUAL. MOST REPUTED BRANDS MENTION THE REGION THEIR PLAYERS ARE COMPLIANT WITH. PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES TO FIND OUT WHERE TO LOOK FOR REGION CODES.
