Not pathbreaking at the level of Omkara, but another noteworthy venture set in provincial India. For those who come from or live in the provinces, the film proves its authenticity. The subject matter makes it relentlessly violent and abusive, but that is inevitable. This aspect is slightly overdone and so is the sexuality. The performances are virtuoso from Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chaddha. The sounds, sights and smells are what linger- they are winners because they are mirrors of a reality which exists to the day but appears magical because of other reasons. The movies are a must have for this reason.
