Excellent product, cooks effortlessly

I like to invest in great quality cookware because the value far out weights the cost. All Lodge products are of excellent quality and so is this skillet. It is pre-seasoned so all I had to do was to wash, slightly season over a medium flame with mustard oil (I use mustard oil for seasoning cast iron due its' viscosity) and start cooking (in olive oil). Omelettes and besan chillas slid right off like it's non-stick. I've used it for make 'tadka' and braised potato already and all cooking has been a breeze with no sticking or burning. In fact I prefer it to non-stick because it will last and is not harmful. Since cast iron retains heat, it's very useful for keeping food warn up to 15 mins before serving as well.
The skillet is heavy - all cast iron is - however I do not find that a deterrent to using it daily. I plan to use it for traditional Indian and cooking, Western dishes, pizzas, pies,...just about anything that will cook in it.
The rounded sides of this design of the skillet make it easy to move food around while cooking. For a cover I use one of the many glass lids I have from my 10 inch non-tick cookware/skillets. In fact, I loved its' design from the time it came out of the box. And 10 inches is perfect for daily use for our family of three.
It looks just like in the picture. Go for it if you're planning on buying cast iron. It will be a great buy that will last a life time.
