Top positive review
A Page-turner which also deepens understanding and invokes concern--

Though written as fiction, the narrative is as true as could be. It gives a vivid description of eastern Tibet, mainly the Nyayong region, its fierce Khampa warriors and their determination to save their country and its rich religion from the PLA of China. It a tale told in exceptional detail about Tibet and Tibetans, and more importantly the Khampas as a clan considered purest of the Aryan race. The book is peppered with characters who help readers understand Tibet at that crucial period when the country, rather Shangri-la, was lost along with that all they aspired for as well. The whole world became poorer without Tibet of the yesteryear-the land of awe and wonder.
Must read book, a book which once opened is impossible to put down. Masterpiece, especially for those who knows the cultured Pemba family and Tibet of the yesteryear from close quarters. What I missed in the book was a map of the areas and places that he mentions in the book. My full review in Summit Times(Gangtok) of May 1, 20017- K.C.Pradhan(Sikkim)
