David Goggins is a real-life Superman. His story presents a compelling evidence of the Human Potential. left me teary-eyed at many points. After reading his story I felt crap about myself. We are so blessed. There will be very people on this planet who would have gone through such a horrendous childhood and still made such an indelible mark in this world. There is a lot that we can learn from this man. I strongly believe that the most important thing that our generation needs to develop is Mental toughness. And those who can appreciate this trait will certainly feel that there is a lot we are capable of doing. A must read for those who want to develop mental toughness and certainly, there are No excuses for not achieving your dreams. Thank you so much, David, for such an honest account and writing this book.
I usually do not write a review for any books but this books definitely warrants it. I feel like I owe it to David Goggins for what he has done to my mindset and my life at large.
I have literally spent thousands of hours going through a lot of BS from the so called motivational speakers, life coaches, peak performance experts, etc. trying to figure out what drives people who are uncommon among us and how to become such a person and achieve greatness. And though I got some snippets of valuable advice it was never life changing. But this guy has completely blown my mind.
The first time I heard him speak in Tom Bilyeu's youtube channel I just could not believe that one person could achieve what he has achieved, inspite of going through so much pain and suffering. It made me realize how much potential I was wasting.
So I have been eagerly waiting for this book and it was even better than my expectations. He doesn't just tell us his life story in detail, he also gives us tools for changing our lives.
You won't need any other person except him for inspiration. There is a lot of crap out there in the name of advice but I truly believe more and more people are going to discover him and this would make a whole lot of those so called experts jobless.
The book is written by a man who withstood the test of time, Embraced suffering , took souls of his competition, hammered through opportunities and became Uncommon amongst Uncommon. This book is not for the weak hearted but for the people who realise sitting isn’t gonna change anything. David defied all odds and is still doing so at 43... What’s your excuse?
David Goggins takes you on an intense journey of his life, from pain to pain, failure to failure, darkness to darkness, and last but not the least, one stellar achievement to another.
He makes you feel his pain, insecurities, hard work and mind boggling determination.
Its not an instant motivator, but a slow process which has the potential to bring about a change in your mind at a fundamental level. The tools/insights he shares are not some magical pills which will change your life but something to keep in mind when you face the toughs.
As Goggins says in the book, 'You don't rise to the level of your expectations, you fall to the level of your training'.
This book is more than just an autobiography of a strong army person. It is a life lesson and author David Goggins provided his strategies in details to face the hurdles and destroy those like a hero. The challenges given at the end of each chapters are so simple n solid but definitely demand a clear and tough mindset with a hardwork to accomplish. A must read book for everyone. Because all of us have more or less amount of impossible goals, failed attempts, disappointments, haters and self doubts in our lives. Reading this book is realising all these can me managed strategically to live a broader and meaningful life filled with never ending possibilities.
This is the most honest book I have ever read. Written superbly. It's not a self development or motivation kind of book even though you might get both. This is the real deal. Very real in how life can unfold and we can choose the hard way that can make all the difference. Read it and you won't regret the decision.
