Tell Tale has some really good short stories
5 November 2017
The Master Story Teller is back!
Tell Tale has some really good short stories, including a slightly longer one, but having just finished A Twist in The Tale, I was left craving something as intriguing, even if the stories did not have twisted endings. A good majority of the stories in Tell Tale are good, but a few of them fall short of Jeffrey Archer's mark. I particularly liked A Wasted Hour, The Cuckold, and A Good Toss to Lose, which made me wonder how he does it, while some of the other stories seem to have forced twisted endings. The last story, The Perfect Murder, is a 100 page summary of the same short story from A Twist in The Tale. I would be lying if I did not admit I felt cheated, having spent good money for the book. For this reason alone, Tell Tale seems to be Jeffrey Archer's attempt at commercial writing- the stories are shorter than usual this time, and the last 40 pages contain the first few chapters from his next book, which is to be released in November, 2018.
A good book overall, Tell Tale could've been much better, and better value for money if Jeffrey Archer. Regardless, most stories are classic Archer, and the book is a must read- just try using a library instead of buying your own copy! ;)
