Isabelle Allende has succeeded in writing a marvellous and very plausable tale of love in the later years of life. Her understanding of hard times in Chile and Salvador are deep and true, and the passages she pens about this era, though short, are heart rending. The Brooklyn setting, on the coldest day of winter, and her three protagonists are the background of a lovely story, built with humour, and understanding. Well written! Loved the book.
A truly warming the heart book. What I liked most about this book is the triumph if the true human spirit ivee the baser human nature. How people living ordinary lives with fears and insecurities can do great acts if kindness. I loved this book.
