This is a great book to learn about the amazing achievements of 31 Indian scientists who also happen to be women. It's unfortunate that we don't hear about most of them on mainstream media; books like these serve a great purpose.
The book itself is a work of art. The text is lucid & informative, the portraits are spectacular.
Every Indian kid (and adult) should have a copy of this book in their bookshelf.
Read these stories to your little kids and be ready to answer all the questions that grip their curiosity. Written in story telling format, each story is quite engaging and inspiring. A new list of career paths have suddenly become part of my daughter's vocabulary and she looks forward to more as I read one story at a time to her.
This book talks about 31 Indian women scientists who cone from various regions of our country yet to be known to many of us but none the less they are contributing greatly for the community and to the world of science , arts and many other arenas of life. From Botanist who helps local farmers of eastern state to combat the affects of viruses in orange plants to astrophycists who are studying about mysterious traits of black holes they are not only making the female clan but the whole human kind proud. They are not yet famous but their strong willed mind never failed . In fields of Acheometallurgy , Hydro geophysics , ecology , biology , anthropology , astronomy , even in signal engineering where one had to spend 500 days in Antarctica , they have never looked back . Beautifully told in small chapters will colorful illustrations , it is a book I found not so heavy for minds of little young people but enough informative , eye catching and very thoughtful. Must read for kids and people of all ages.
Tell me.. I may not remember. Show me, I will never forget.
This book demonstrates the fact that we truly don't know our scientists and especially women scientists who have worked on a range of issues, problems and opportunities.
This book is a delightful amalgamation of passion, creativity and logic. Hats off to the authors and illustrators for bringing out this book! It's a great read both for adults and kids. A highly recommended read!
