Manage Your Alexa Privacy Settings

Use the Alexa Privacy settings page to access and manage data from your interactions with Alexa.

Review Your Voice History

To access the Alexa Privacy settings page, go to Alexa Privacy.

The Alexa Privacy settings page is also accessible in the Alexa app. Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, select Settings, Alexa Account, and then Alexa Privacy. Then log into your Amazon account.

The Alexa Privacy settings page allows you to:

  • Review voice history
  • Manage smart home device history
  • Manage skill permissions
  • Manage how your data helps improve Alexa

Voice History shows your voice interactions with Alexa. You can filter by date and choose an entry to see details, listen to, and delete recordings associated with your account.

  1. Go to the Alexa Privacy settings page and select Review Voice History.
  2. Select one of the options under Date Range.
  3. Mark the recorded interactions you want to delete, and then select Delete Selected Recordings.

Tip: Delete all voice recordings by selecting All History from the Date Range section, and then select Delete All Recordings for All Time.

Manage Smart Home Devices History

Alexa receives information about the status and use of third-party smart home devices. Examples include the state of your connected switches (on/off) and thermostats (set temperature, household temperature). You may delete the third party smart home device status history associated with your account.

  1. Go to the Alexa Privacy settings page and select Manage Smart Home Devices History.
  2. To delete content, click the Delete Smart Home Devices History button.

Manage Skills Permissions

You can use skill permissions to manage the data you provide to Alexa skills:

  1. Go to the Alexa Privacy settings page, and select Manage Skill Permissions.
  2. Choose the data type you want to manage access to.
  3. From the list of Alexa skills that have requested access to this data, toggle each skill on or off.

Manage How Your Data Improves Alexa

Recordings from a diverse range of customers help Alexa work well for everyone. With these settings enabled, your voice recordings could help in the development of new features and improve transcription accuracy.

  1. Go to the Alexa Privacy settings page, and select Manage How Your Data Improves Alexa.
  2. Use the toggle to opt in or out of having voice recordings used to help develop new features.
  3. Use the toggle to opt in or out of having messages used to help improve transcription accuracy.
