Open Box Inspection

Open Box Inspection enables you to inspect the product you ordered at the time of delivery. With open box inspection, the delivery associate will unpack your order package at the time of delivery, which will enable you to inspect the contents of your package.

Such inspection enablement is only available on pre-paid scheduled delivery orders for television, microwave oven, washing machine, and refrigerator products in select pincodes.

Open Box Inspection eligibility messaging will be displayed on the product detail page.

How does it work?

  • At the time of the delivery of the purchased product, the delivery associate will:
    • unpack the package, and place the product in the package in the room of your choice;
    • have you inspect* for physical damages, correctness (i.e., to ensure that it is not completely different from what was ordered) and completeness (i.e., to ensure that the product has no missing parts/accessories); and
    • take back the package, if you find the product to be damaged, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what was ordered, after inspection, and wish to return the package
    • will take away the packaging material if desired
  • Post inspection, you will be required to confirm the delivery by placing your signature on mobile/delivery sheet (produced by the delivery associate) and produce a valid identity card. An adult needs to be compulsorily present at the time of inspection and delivery.
  • If you find the product to be damaged, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what you ordered, the delivery associate will take back the package, and, a refund will be issued to you.
  • In case the product is found defective/not working, after you have accepted the delivery, you can raise a request for return/refund with Amazon customer support within the 10-days' return window period as per the Amazon.in Returns policy. Once such request is raised, we will help troubleshoot/resolve any issues that you may face, over the phone, and/or through an in-person technician visit. In the event the issue remains unresolved, and if eligible, you will be issued a refund/ replacement as per the said Amazon.in Returns policy. After you have accepted the delivery of an open box inspection eligible order, return requests for missing, damaged or different item under the Amazon.in Returns policy will not be accepted.

Q. Is 'open box inspection' optional? How can I avail 'open box inspection'?

‘Open box inspection’ is not optional and will be performed for all pre-paid scheduled delivery orders for television, microwave oven, washing machine, and refrigerator products by default. This is also available for pre-paid buyback scheduled delivery orders for the above category products, subject to satisfactory inspection of your old item by the delivery associate. In case the item you are ordering is eligible for ‘open box inspection’, you will see the ‘open box inspection’ eligibility messaging on the product detail page and on checkout while selecting the delivery option.

Q. What can I expect at the time of the delivery? Are there any delivery pre-requisites?

Yes, please ensure an adult is present at the time of inspection and delivery. Only an adult can accept delivery and sign the mobile/delivery sheet produced by delivery associate.

At the time of delivery:

  • The delivery associate will unpack your package, and place the product in the package in the room of your choice;
  • The delivery associate will have you inspect* for physical damages, correctness (i.e., to ensure that it is not completely different from what was ordered) and completeness (i.e., to ensure that the product has no missing parts/accessories); and
  • The delivery associate will take away the package, if you find the product to be damaged, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what was ordered, after inspection, and wish to return the package.

Q. What will happen if the product is found to be damaged/missing/ is completely different from what I ordered?

In case of the above, the delivery associate will take back the product, if you wish to return, and, a refund will be issued to you in accordance with Amazon.in Returns policy.

Q. Can I get a replacement instead of a refund if the product is found to be damaged/has missing parts/ is completely different from what I ordered?

No, in the case of the above, only a refund can be issued.

No, 'open box inspection' eligible orders are not eligible for replacement. Please refer to Amazon.in Returns policy for more details on replacements

Q. Will my product be installed at the time of delivery too?

Yes, in case the purchased product is eligible for installation at time of delivery. Otherwise, the installation will be conducted separately as per the timelines communicated on the website and/ or through email/ SMS.

Q. What happens if I face an issue after the delivery/ installation?

In case the product is found defective/not working, after you have accepted delivery of an open box inspection eligible order, you will be required to raise a request within the 10-days' returns window. Once such request is raised, we will help troubleshoot/ resolve any issues that you may face, over the phone, and/or through an in-person technician visit. In the event the issue remains unresolved, and if eligible, you will be issued a refund/replacement as per the Amazon.in Returns policy. In case of any issues post the 10-days' returns window, please directly contact the brand service center.

Terms and Conditions

  • You understand that you are required to inspect and take delivery of the product in-person, after producing a valid identity card and signing on the mobile/delivery sheet produced by the delivery associate.
  • You agree and understand that only the delivery associate is entitled to open product package and place the product for your inspection.
  • You agree to inspect the product in the presence of the delivery associate only. You understand that inspection means checking the physical appearance and components of the product, if any, and does not include testing the functioning of the product.
  • You agree and understand that the ‘open box inspection’ is not applicable on orders, other than pre-paid scheduled delivery orders for select products, including pay on delivery orders.
  • You understand that in case you wish to return the product which is received in damaged condition, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what was ordered, the delivery will be considered as 'failed', and, if eligible, you will be issued a refund in accordance with Amazon.in Returns policy.
  • You understand that in case the product is found defective/not working, after accepting delivery, you can raise a request for return/refund with Amazon customer support within the 10-days' return window as per the Amazon.in Returns policy. Once such request is raised, we will help troubleshoot/ resolve any issues that you may face, over the phone, and/or through an in-person technician visit. In the event the issue remains unresolved, and if eligible, you will be issued a refund/replacement as per the said Amazon.in Returns policy.   • The Amazon.in Returns policy will apply to ‘open box inspection’ eligible orders, except to the extent that – if a product is (a) delivered in a physically damaged condition; (b) is missing; or (c) is different from what was ordered, the same needs to be returned at the time of delivery (instead of 10 days' return window period which is otherwise available under the general returns policy). However, the 10 days' return window period will continue to be available for defective products which are eligible for ‘open box inspection’.
