A well researched book by Collins and Lapierre. This is a readable history of events leading up to and immediately after India's independence from Great Britain. It should be a must read for anyone interested in Asia and especially the sub-continent. More importantly it gives good insight to the 4 principal players, Ghandi, Jennah, Nehru, and especially Mountbatten. The writers were well best with having met with and had access to Mountbatten's many documents related to his role in the independence move. Their meeting ws even more timely because it occurred just before his assassination.
