The much anticipated new thriller by Tana French does not disappoint–rather it sets the bar even higher for the next one. We were introduced to Antoinette Conway in The Secret Place and she was certainly one of French's more compelling and intriguing characters. A hotheaded, brash Murder Detective, Conway is given to occasionally rubbing her colleagues and witnesses the wrong way. In The Trespasser, we will see her pushed to her breaking point as she finds herself investigating the murder of young woman in her apartment. It appears to be a cut-and-dried Domestic, but soon Conway and her partner Stephen Moran, notice tiny cracks at the surface of the case. The struggle between Conway and the rest of the Murder Squad is drawn out beautifully, as Conway struggles with finding truth, while facing opposition at every turn. The supporting characters are also likeable and well fleshed out. All in all, this book will keep you up well into the night, so be prepared!
