I love reading Historical Fiction and this one takes us back to 18th century Paris in the time of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette!
Enchantee is about the dark magic that costs your deepest, most vulnerable sadness to truly bring out the best witch in you. It will demand blood and power. It talks about a time before the French Revolution and the condition Paris was in, politically as well. Enchantee has love, romance, family feuds, royalty, gambling, mafias, kings & queens, noblemen, treachery and beautiful Paris on the brink of revolution and destruction.
Though, the historical part diminishes every now and then from the plot, with Camille at its center it deals with her story and how she uses the magic to her benefit and in return how the magic uses her. She is young, vulnerable, weighed down by her responsibilities, longing for love, and desires a beautiful life. But is all that possible? Will she be able to get away with her dark magic? . . This debut is definitely commendable and has a definitive end. Though there are two more books to come (YAY!) which I think will lead us into the French Revolution and I'm hoping has more history element to it. Looking forward to them!
