Amazon.in opens its largest Fulfilment Centre near Delhi
With a storage capacity of over 800,000 cubic feet, the Fulfilment Centre will enable thousands of SMEs to grow profitably in India’s flourishing digital economy
New Delhi, July 14, 2016: : Amazon.in today announced the opening of its largest Fulfilment Centre (FC) spread over 200,000 square feet with more than 800,000 cubic feet of storage space in Sonipat near New Delhi. The FC will allow Amazon.in to offer its Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) service to several thousand more small & medium businesses in the Delhi NCR region and the state of Haryana. This Fulfilment Centre is in line with Amazon’s planned investments of six new FCs in India. The combined storage capacity available to sellers on Amazon.in will increase 1.5 times to 7.5 million cubic feet by the end of this year.
On the occasion of the launch, Devender Singh, Principal Secretary, Industries and IT Department, Government of Haryana said “Amazon India’s latest investment with the launch of their largest Fulfilment Centre signifies the growing interest of large global enterprises in Haryana. The FC will enable thousands of small & medium businesses selling locally created products such as apparels, handlooms & handicraft to service customers seamlessly across the country & the globe. It will also fuel the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state. We are committed to enabling the ease of doing business and enabling companies like Amazon.in to expand their presence in Haryana.”

Amazon.in now has close to 2 million cubic feet of storage area to offer to thousands of sellers across Haryana and Delhi. Local sellers, weavers, craftsmen & artisans involved in traditional textiles & local handicrafts too would be able to reach a wider set of customers and provide a delightful customer experience through this new FC. Many sellers have already registered at this facility and many of them have started inbounding their products.
Amazon.in, under the aegis of its Amazon Cares program, also inaugurated a Community library and Resource center in Kamaspura, Sonipat which has been set up in partnership with Rural Education and Development (READ) India. With the vision of ‘Creating opportunities and transforming lives’ Amazon.in will create programs to impact and enhance the lives of the local community in the areas of education, livelihood, health and sanitation.
The education support initiative will focus on creating opportunities and will enable access to quality education for the community children. Their health initiative will focus on promoting & advocating preventive health care through partnerships with the local community and the district government. Some of the initiatives planned on sanitation include awareness and advocacy programs on cleanliness, hygiene and house-hold waste management.
