Amazon India wins Golden Peacock Award
Special Commendation for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2015
Bengaluru, Feb 08, 2016: Amazon India has added another feather to its cap by winning Special Commendation in the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility – 2015. This is in recognition and appreciation of Amazon’s various initiatives to transform lives and support India’s development through the communities it operates in. The special commendation certificate was presented at a specially organized 'Golden Peacock Awards Nite', held on Friday, 5th February 2016, at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
The winners were selected basis diligent analysis of the self-appraisal reports and duly filled applications by the awards jury under the Chairmanship of Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India. Mrs. Pankaja Munde, Cabinet Minister of Rural Development and Women & Child Welfare gave away the awards at an event held on 5 - 6 February, 2016 in Mumbai.

We provide this support in partnership with our employees, customers, partners and government bodies.” said Akhil Saxena, Director Operations, Amazon India. “Amazon India has a flagship program called Amazon Cares through which we have created 2 key initiatives – Amazon in the community and Gift a Smile. These initiatives span across various focus areas like Livelihood Enhancement, Education, Sanitation & Health and Disaster Response.” he added.

The cohesive focus on education, sanitation & health, disaster relief and community development through Amazon’s e-commerce platform under its constituted CSR committee have immensely benefitted society at large”

These organizations then create wish lists from all products available on Amazon.in and publish this on the Gift a Smile page. These wish lists are then made available to the millions of customers who visit Amazon.in who now have the opportunity to fulfil these wishes while they shop. The program benefits NGOs across 13 states and has helped fulfil over 15000 wishes in the last financial year.
