Amazon.in signs MoU with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD)
Thousands of more SMEs can now leverage the growth of India's flourishing digital economy
Bangalore, December 22, 2015: :Amazon Seller Services Pvt. Ltd. (ASSPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) aimed at encouraging more and more SMEs to grow their business profitably online. Under the memorandum, Amazon.in and NIESBUD will work towards spreading awareness on the enormous potential of e-commerce for SMEs and empower them to leverage the numerous opportunities that India’s growing digital economy offers. The initiative aims at transforming the lives of many entrepreneurs and transforming the way India sells.
As part of the MoU, ASSPL & NIESBUD will jointly undertake the exercise of training SMEs on understanding the e-commerce industry in India and its vast potential for growth. The two will also provide SMEs with the necessary online selling and marketing training as well as faculty support. In addition to this, training infrastructure including classrooms, from where the one-day face-to-face training programs on E-Commerce Entrepreneurship will be conducted and hand-holding and guiding services will also be provided.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Gopal Pillai - Director - Seller Services, Amazon India said “The MoU with NIESBUD is in line with Amazon.in’s vision of empowering SMEs with the ability to utilize the immense opportunity that e-commerce offers for their respective growth. We have come across millions of Indian SMEs who are very entrepreneurial and have a hunger to grow but do not have the necessary skill-sets to manage an online business. We are working towards fulfilling this need of SMES in India. Basic skill training is important to enable first-time sellers to get online and start selling. Till date, Amazon.in has impacted over 100,000 sellers across the country to leverage the digital economy to grow and scale profitably and we hope that through this initiative we are able to positively impact thousands of more sellers across India.”
